Default Variable Aircon

Hi,
Talking about a 2002 1.9TDI Elegance here.

For a while the aircon has been misbehaving; basically it will suddenly produce lots of hot air or suddenly lots of cold air...a couple of minutes later it will go back to working correctly.

Sometimes pressing the recirculation button has no effect on the light in the button, other times it is OK.

We've given up asking the dealer to fix this as they always come back with "Reset it".

Anyone any other suggestions?

Cheers,

David.

I believe a few people have hit this, although theirs was more severe with it just pumping out roasting air, and if resetting the flap motors (using VAG-COM) had no effect then a new unit was required. If it's intermittent, hopefully the flap motors are just a bit sticky.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Is there anything I can do?

Cheers,

David.

If you can find someone local to you with VAG-COM, the resetting procedure can be found here Fabia-vrs.com - Coding Options (first one in the list)...
