| Have a VRS re-mapped with revo and love the result of this but was skinned by a Focus ST the other day and felt a little small. I know i cant expect to generate that kind of performance from my VRS but wandered what other engine mods i could do to improve BHP? Looked in to changing car for a Mazda 3 MPS with Aero kit but fuel, insurance bla bla... Cheers

| You'll be looking at bigger turbo, bigger injectors, FMIC to get closer, but it might just be cheaper to buy the ST ![]() Chris

| Focus ST has around 150bhp / tonne, Remapped Fabia vRS has about 140bhp / tonne. The difference is not huge in real world driving, but significant higher up the speed range where aerodynamic drag favours the more powerful car. However, not all Focus STs are standard. There are cars out there on remaps up to around 280bhp and a few hotter than that. Chris

1. There will be Fabia owners that have tales of trouncing Ferraris, Porsches 2. This will be closely followed by a load of Octavia owners who will try to make the Fabia sound like a toy and pour scorn on it. 3. Welshy will then come along and tell you how much the depreciation has increase, how the bubble has burst and how you should have bought a BMW 4. This whole mix up will be interlaced with a few sensible posts but nothing really interesting to answer the question. You want some advice? Dont talk about it, do it. Buy one, do a track day and find out for yourself because then it doesn't matter about any of the above | |

| Back on topic, I've not really known many cars that have properly had a go and that I've had to annihilate, but 2 that I know for certain that I have beaten on the very same motorway slip road were a Ford Puma (non racing) with an insane woman behind the wheel that was thrashing the thing trying to undertake me where there was no room to do so (I was overtaking at the time), and also a Mini Cooper (not S) that tried the exact same thing on the exact same stretch of road with some lad behind the wheel and was also beaten. The Puma was not far behind at all (and it was a warm day so I was down on boost) but I had to push it hard to keep ahead. The mini was a different story.....I left him quite easily shortly before he overtook me as I sat at 70 on the m'way with a grin on my face. Other cars that have had a pop were an Audi A3 2.0 TDi, and there was sod all in it.....I think I had the edge but so marginally that it didn't inspire confidence that I could have won by a decent margin.

| was it a mk2 focus st or a mk1, the mk1 shouldnt be a problem but i think you wouldnt have chance against the volvo engined mk2.

| Agreed. The MKII's are awesome things with a T5 engine. I'm still undecided about the styling though. The 3 door looks better than the 5 but still.....hmmm.....

| Get a motorbike then you can take pretty much everything although the rozzers round here have added a ZZR1400 (good for 200mph) to their fleet of R1's Octi VRS (Undercover and Livered) and Mitsubishi Lancers. So a copper will always take you no matter what you drive. |
