Default What type of oil to use? Mineral 15/40 or Semi-synthetic 10/40

I bought some oil recently from a local garge (not the dealer) and they said that for a Fabia 2000 1.4 8V it requires Semi-synthetic 10/40. So I bought some.

I was just about to change the oil when a friend told me that his Skoda dealer put Mineral 15/40 in his Fabia.

Anybody got any recommendations whats it's supposed to be?

Thanks.

Be a thoughtfull owner and treat it to fully synthetic 5-40 - you can get Fuchs Titon SL 5-40 in 4 litres containers for around £16 at GSF.

Semi Synth 10/40 or semi synth 15w40 oils should suit your Fabia

I'm using semi synth 15w40 magnatec at the mo but am changing to 10w/40 semi synth (not magnatec)

The 10w-40 semi will be ok with regular changes, the 5w-40 synthetic is more of a quality choice and will last a lot longet then a semi should you want to treat it.

15w-40 oils are mineral multigrades not semi synthetic, despite what Castrol may say about it.

Cheers

Guy.
