Which wheel size?

Looking to buy a set of alloys & wondering which size to go for 16 or 17?

I want the car to look good but still retain some ride comfort, also I'm a little confused over the et issue I have read on some threads this can vary between 35 & 43? . might be a good idea to get some used vrs alloys but havn't seen that many around.

Car is a 2003 Tdi 100 on stock 14 inch wheels

Any help would be much appreciated

Re: Which wheel size?

the offset (35 or 43) would depend on the width of the wheel you choose

Re: Which wheel size?

17's do look good on the Fabia and with it being a diesel you wont suffer too much of a performance hit from the extra unsprung weight. Having said that 16's would offer better ride quality.

Re: Which wheel size?

i just got 17s fitted not long ago, i was very pleased at how little it altered the comfort of the ride. sayin that, that was 16s changed to 17s, the smaller a wheel you go from i.e. the bigger profile of the tyre, the more you will notice a change in the comfort of the ride.

Re: Which wheel size?

Thanks for the advice, I think I might go the 16 route with 205/45 tyres, any suggestions on the offset? Also going to drop the car a little maybe 30mm or so, Eibach springs look good anyone got any thoughts?

Re: Which wheel size?

I think there is a thread about here where you can check if there is any change to your speedo reading if you are changing wheel sizes.

It can affect it in some circomstances
