yay 200th post!


anyway, erm where was I, oh yeah.
I have been reading from the posts recently and i wondered,
What type of cams do the felicia engine's have?

in the 1.3spi, 1.3 mpi, 1.6mpi, 1.9d?

OHV ?
OHC ?
DOHC ?

1.3's are push rod, so side cam
1.6 is sohc single over head cam.

oh cool

thats interesting.
Also won't the be hard to service the cam/ do the timing if the cam is at the side?

Oh and does the 1.6 have buckets and shims?

...Easy to do a head gasket on though, as theres no cam to remove or any timing to set up/adjust. Also since its chain driven there is no tensioner to adjust etc so much easier than a cambelt, and they dont snap like a cambelt, just let you know when they need replacing by a very annoying rattling sound.

ahha a good point about an OHV engine, thats what i like to hear.
So there is a reason why they still make them then.
DO most moden cars have OHC and DOHC?
or is OHV more common than i think?

...Alot of big yank V8s are still OHV. Its generally not used anymore in european/Jap engines now though as it was surpassed by OHC/DOHC, simply put DOHC is the way forward as you can easily get more performance from a DOHC engine by adding more valves and technology to control the valves, this cannot easily be done with OHV.

you'v got a 1.6 right.

take the cam cover off. see the things that the cam pushes down on? there the hydro tappets.
