the vr6 was done with a totaly custom subframe and a golf gear box using custom drive-shafts. if you ask me thats not putting a bugger engine in a felicia. thats making a kit car.

i imagine it was more likely to have been a mk3 golf subframe and track control arms/driveshafts/hubs etc adapted to fit the bottom of a felicia.... which is fine if you have tons and tons of money to chuck at it

just for everybody's info, in the felicia with the diesel engine, the engine leans forwards roughly 15 degree from upright measured at the crank centreline. so that is the same angle at which i'm going to have to mount this engine which might make it so i cant shut the bonnet.... i'll cross that bridge when i come to it

Anthing can be done given enough time and enough skill with a welder. An chap I know on a caddy forum has a MK1 Caddy running fulll VR6 running gear using all the MK3 subframe, dash, climatronic the whole lot. Some of the conversions done on ED38 are mind blowing, Corrados with 4Mo engines and full haldex running gear, twin 4Mo engined Lupo etc etc, most of them home brew as well.

done a bit more research on this today at lunch time, it id possible to use the 1.6 flywheel and 190mm clutch on the 2.0 engine, but i'm looking at using the flywheel and 200mm clutch from the diesel model, this would also mean i need to use the diesel starter motor...

i was thinking a more likely candidate for a diesel engine transplant would be one of those 3 cylinder 1.4pd jobbies, should be fairly easy

was scratching my head earlier with regards to the engine mounting, so i quickly knocked out an mdf template, just need to cut a bit off the bottom right corner then see if it fits on there before i go machining up a piece of aluminium
