Unhappy Felicia solenoid wiring

I have just put in a "new" battery-bloody nightmare- and a starter motor into a 99 Felicia for my girlfriend. BUT I did not not mark the wiring. Help ---which terminals do I attach the leads to. Both to the top one???????? Do not want to lose any more face.

i'm not 100% sure, but they will both be live anyway... one is permanent live direct from the battery (sometimes the starter motor has b+ marked on or near the terminal for this) the other is a switched live from the ignition switch which only comes live when the switch is in the 'start' position... the starter motor is earthed internally via the gearbox earth strap

You're right. Found the problem was with the ignition switch being dead.Aargh
