Spoke to my skoda garage earlier and got the part numbers of what i need to fix my faulty rev counter problem, got the part numbers and looked them up on my parts program. I was barking up the wrong tree with the hall/speed sensor. Its actually the Impulse sender and the Induction for coil that i need, both located inside the distributor. They want to charge me over £100 to fix this, havent looked up prices for parts, but if i can get a brand new distributor for £26, then wouldn't it just be eaiser and cheaper to get it cand fit myself. Im assuming that both parts are integral with the distributor and therfore would come with a new one. I have enclosed a blow apart image of the distributor. The parts that i need are 10 & 12. they look like they're part of it. What do you guys think? Thanks ![]()

Breakers yard has surely got to be the first port of call? It could be a good source of other bits and bobs whilst you are there!

| Yeah, just mark up the old one and put the new one back in the same, timing shouldnt be to far off then.

got my new distributor this morning. Rang the trusty old skoda garage, and he just happened to have one in, so he put it to one side for me and i picked it up before i started work this morning. Cheapest price i could find for it too... only £22.77!! Just need to fit it. Think i wil take your advice, same time not having to set engine to TDC and mark the old one up and stick the new one in. Thanks for that tip!

The Dizzy was the cause of the only breakdown in our early model Fav. It broke down at 11 am on a saturday on our way into Harrogate. I rang Brookroyd Garage (now ex Skoda) from a nearby farmhouse, described what had happened.."Distributor" they said "We'l send someone out with another". The mechanic had to drive about seven miles to us & installed the new Dizzy. Time from breakdown to starting up again.....Exactly 1 Hour. Of course garages that provide such rubbish service as this did not deserve to be Skoda dealers any more.... according to VW who not long after took away the franchise. On another occasion my wife rang them after the car was broken into. They said get here as soon as you can, and they took a window glass out of a showroom car and fixed it on the spot. Alfie 168

My local dealer used to offer a similar level of service. Alas they couldn't afford to comply with the expense of a massive showroom, glass frontage etc, so they lost the franchise. ![]()
