Re: front shocks took me a morning to do both sides, bottom strut clamp bolts looked like a total bitch but nothing that an impact wrench and a 4ft long breaker bar could not handle. good job i had the foresight to get some new bolts+nuts
The real pig was keeping the springs compressed without the compressors. about 50 cable ties per spring sorted that out :o
All in all it cost me £34 per shock (KRG premium no less), £1 tub of grease, a new 16mm impact socket, lots of plus gas, and £4.50 per side for the upper rubber mounts.
a little hint - after youve changed them paint the clamp bolts and nuts with some think tarry underseal. it may be gunky, but it stops them going rusty and seizing up in the future! |
