The aee engine in the skoda uses magneti marelli electrics and the dubs use bosch, so if you get an engine out of a dub you will have to change the electrics over
where abouts are you? cos a scrappy in scunthorpe have a felly 1.6 in, with lowish miles

Unhappy Re: Fun Bus Engine

Wakefield area... near leeds. Im taking the head of tonight to see whats happening. Think the valves are bent. But i have a spare head so depends how much damage is on the pistons... Do you have the number of the scrap yard... ive had a quote of £250 delivered for a bear engine.

And does any one know what size multi spline socket the VW head bolts are?

You could try Overton Service Station in Ludlow - they have quite a few old cars for scrap lying around (though in Shropshire which is quite away from you).

it makes no difference, you would use the skoda gearbox on it anyway using the adaptor plate which will be on your existing engine...

dont worry yourself too much about the electrics either, just use the stuff off your existing engine, all of the sensors are the same anyway, it's just the loom that is different.

the right hand engine mounting bracket and timing belt covers are slightly different too but your can swap these from your existing engine too

so any aee lump will do

True the electrics shouldnt be a problem but some of the sensors mount differently so you would have to swop over a few bits
