How to recode keys on new lock

Help !!!!!!!!! I have just bought a new lock for my 98 Felicia and having taken it 40 odd miles to fit it have now been informed it won't work unless I deliver said lock and car BACK to my dealer, who supplied the lock and let them code it for even more bucks. shame no one mentioned this small problem at time of handing over £60 + ( Nice man, shame about the customer care )But then I digress obviously what I need is the method for recoding the new keys to work in the new lock I now have fitted in afore mentioned Felicia. I did think of taping the old key close to the new lock thus fooling the imobilizer but this has a down side as I only have one origional key, which I still need to lock or unlock the car when I get in or out No, there is no remote just the one key that fits a siezed ignition lock and vehicles other locks and the new lock now fitted but with two keys that can't operate the imobilizer. car is now being brought home but I feel loathed to take it to the dealer who was so helpful in case he failed to mention any other LITTLE problem So please does anyone know how I can recode the new keys or at worst bypass the imobilizer Many Thanks for any advice or help you can give meI will admit my username was spawned from the cracking service I received at my Skoda dealer Though DIDFALL might have been better

What about taking the chip from the old key and putting that into the new key?

This is the only way of doing it without going to a dealer and getting it recoded DUNFALL

Even the dealers struggle now as the Felicia cant be done online so an email has to be sent to skoda.

Thanks Lummox but they can't be using the e-mail method as they say they can come out and do it

Can I actually remove the chip and fit it to the new key without major risk of damaging it ???
sadly I worked in the motor trade when when all locks could be opened with a knackered Ford key steering locks were just that and an imobilizer was removing the rotaer arm what amazes me today is with all the dreaded and unessesary electronic technology we still don't get much more to the gallon than we did using a rev counter a vacume gauge and a lighter right foot

If you have ever done the chip swop I would be interested in your comments regarding possible damage

There is a program called VAG Tacho that will work out your SKC and then you can code keys.

I have just changed my ignition barrel and off course now it wont start because of the immobiliser i have maneged to take the little black transponder out of the old key (with great difficulty) is there an easier way to get it out as there is not much keeping it in although its jammed solid?

i didn't need to code the new keys, i just took the chip out the old key and put into the new one. Easy enough- held the key with grips and slip a stanley blade down the side of the chip to free it, then prised out with a screwdriver, came out easy and works fine.

Have you tried going to Timpsons? I got my spare key cut and coded by them cause its just a single code rather than rolling. Thats on a '97.
