A Foreman 1.3 to a Felicia 1.3 pickup truck ??

Would a Foreman at comedy money be worth taking on, or do they have serious pitfalls??

Any opinions and views appreciated.

Cheers,
Rian

Depends if you want whats in your vehicle to be covered or not! The other benefit of a pickup is you could put something quite tall in it - your not that limited by height!

Pinkskud, yes, it was a Favorit I was looking at on the bay, but spoke to vendor, and it is deffo just a mobile skip, so will pass on that one.
Interestingly advertised that it comes with VW engine.

Anyway, I suspect a Felicia or equivalent Caddy is still the route to go.
A Cube van would be good too, and just ditch the canopy off the rear, et Voila, Pickup.

...Yet another misconception by misinformed sellers, they say its a "VW engine" when its the Skoda 1289cc pushrod engine also found in the felicia. The reason they mention VW is because VW bought into Skoda in 1991, but the favorit design has been around since 1988, so nothing to do with VW. Although the later favorits have some VW switchgear and of course they use Bosch injection (which has nothing to do with VW really, as the injection conversion was done in the UK by british engineers. Also porsche worked on the engine mounts to reduce engine noise - still, nothing to do with VW though.

A forman is basically a felicia pickup, suspension, brakes, chassis etc etc remain nearly the same. After all a Felicia is just a favorit underneath with 2 extra engine options, VW 1.6 petrol and 1.9Diesel engines.

Id say go for the felicia pickup if you want A work horse but if you want something retro and a bit different buy a forman.

Now theres a great answer, thanks .

I do want retro, but also reliable and quirky springs to mind.

If I could find a decent Hyundai pickup (1200 rwd) or a Subaru Brat 1800 awd or even a decent Ford P100) I would love it.

I just come from a culture where pickup trucks are used as a car, and it almost becomes a status symbol, in the UK , clearly it is an "anti-status symbol" but I dont care, just want to be a "redneck" with my own truck.

If you asked many a SA lad right now, whether they wanted a new car or a pickup or double cab 4x4 the vote would favour the pickup.

In SA a pickup is classed as much as a car and does not incur much of a penalty.

I am visiting in November for 3 weeks and my brother has offered me his Opel Corsa Pickup (with colour matched canopy)to use for a 4000kmplus roadtrip, and he does not even have to inform the insurance company, as long as he gave me permission to use it, it is fine, and if I am fully liscensed.

St range world I know.

.................. Yep, its a "BAKKIE" which lost in translation means small bowl.

My second car ever wa a 1600 Ford P100 (Cortina of 1982 vintage with fibreglass canopy)

In SA, you will see a builder (White van man type scenario) withhis whole team of up to 12 guys on the back of a 1ton pickup truck racing down the motorway on the way to an from work daily. ....... Wild Wild West

I'll be honest and say that i think the Favorit Pickup rides better than the Felicia Pickup (i've had both), the Favorit seems to rot more so finding a good 1 these days will be very hard, i'm guessing its that Blue Favorit Pickup you've been enquiring about on Ebay.

I may know where there's a few Felicia Pickups and Cube vans available (cheaply), going to make enquiries tomorrow if i can.
