hi some may have seen my other problems with my car on here and may think it links to the other problems i have had....anyway when driving the car is starting to slightly kangaroo and sometimes a slight lack of power and all of a sudden kicks in as if holding back?. as i have said before in other threads the car is hard to start and sometimes will strait straight off i cleaned the throttle body the other day and was running ok for half a day then whent back to the same old problems?.

id say its time for a replacement throttle body, and maybe MAP sensor as well while your at it.

this type of problem can also be caused by the hall sensor on the gearbox i believe.

i have noticed it is more in third gear but if you have read some of my other problems in other threads i can see this is relating to the same thing in wich you are suggesting wich is throttle when i had it all open the other day the cable it'self on the throttle body should have some sort of clip at top end near to body wich you can screw to adjust the cable i am not sure if this is so with the skodas but this clip is not there so if it is supposed to have one could this be a problem?

To adjust throttle cable there's a clip that slides out and slides back in. No screw involved. Slide out clip, take up slack, slide back in.

These sorts of problems are usually down to an HT component breaking down under load, or fuel starvation.

What have you already done with the HT system, if anything?

all i have done with car is change the plugs and cleaned up the throttle body nothing else has been done i have sent of for a coil pack brand new wich cost me £40 i may be changing carb well throttle should i say if need be and maybe map sensors.

It could be a bad new plug, it's been known (but I think that's unlikely; OTOH it caught out a mechanic mate of mine who went down the "change everything else" route, including replacing twin Weber 40s with a single compound before he found it).

I'd try the plug leads next, then the coil pack though.

the felicia dont have leads it is all built into one unit the leads are built into coil wich sits on top off spak plugs wich is bolted down on top of them.

That's the trouble with doing basic diagnostic mechanics on an engine you're not used to.

i am used to an engine with a seperate coil and leads and so on i have never had so much trouble with a car than this and i have never had a car that has had trouble with sensors i had never heard of changing any sensors on a car until i got this and i have been driving sinse i was 16 i am now 34 these modern engines baffle me lol.

It most likely sounds like your coil pack but i always look at the basics first

One thing i would do as a matter of course which doesn't cost you is take a good look at the quality of connections you have on all sensors, particularly the crankshaft and Map sensors. The Map sensor connecting block is notorious for getting a little corrosion (shows up as green), and the other for getting s*** up or knocked about. A clean with electirical contact cleaner and a few cotton bud sticks works wonders on connectors.

I take it that everything else is ok such as valve clearances, temprenture reading?

If non of this helps i would turn my attention to seeing if you have any air leaks at the throttle body housing or inlet manifold. Again this is easy to sort out for peanuts but mostly affects the car on idle

i f i knew ware all the sensors was it would help? i think i know ware the map sensor is next to throttle body so i am told as for others i will just have to have good route about. anyway thanks for tip i will have a look at them and all clearences are fine i also had the tappets reset the other day.

Lambda sensor - on exhaust downpipe. Easy to spot because it means having an electric cable connecting to the exhaust!
"Hall" (aka TDC; depends on app which is right) sensor. Sometimes on flywheel (I think this applies to Felicias), sometimes on crank nose, and sometimes on end of camshaft (I know this applies to PSA TU series petrol engines).
Throttle sensor - sometimes on throttle body, and sometimes on pedal.
Knock sensor - somewhere on cylinder head (not applicable to Felicias IIRC).

You can't clean a Lambda sensor or a throttle position sensor, just their contacts. The reasoning is different though:-
1) Lambda - If this gets so oily that exhuast gas can't burn the deposits off it's FUBAR!
2) Throttle position - This is a variable resistor, and if they go it's usually because the carbon film track is worn out, not because of a poor contact.

Do check the simple things like distributor cap and rotor arm if you haven't already. My car developed a misfire recently, and I noticed the rotor arm had melted at the sparking end, so assuming that was causing it.

If you have any form of coilpacks, you don't have a dissie or rotor arm!

not on a felicia 1.3gli mpi engine you dont. it is all built into one unit that sits on top of plugs and is bolted down.
