Default Light warning buzzer

I would like to disable the irritating side-lights warning buzzer on my 1999 Felicia 1.3 mpi. Is it safe to remove the relay [R6 ?] or possibly the fuse [f11 ?] ? I fear that this might screw-up the computer or something. Any thoughts ? regards.. TIB

Dear Mr Lummox
Many thanks for the "Brisk" reply. The buzzer is more of an irritation than a help.

Why? Mine only sounds when the lights are on, the engine is off and the door is open.

Is yours sounding in a different situation?

Its really useful - or your end up with a dead battery. My sister hasn't got one on here Daihatsu - and she left her lights on, to find out later she had a flat battery! We are going to see about fitting one to her car. If I were you I would leave it in - you might end up with a flat battery otherwise.

Why can't they make it so that when you turn off the ignition, the lights turn off too? (aka Subaru)

Ignition on - Lights on
Ignition off - Lights off
Simple.

No more annoying buzzers and no flat batteries.

the only thing i find annoying about the buzzer is using the boot light,
you need the side ligths on, for it to get power, what up with that?
surely it should come on when the boot opens?

It even has a switch so it can be turned off? why?
(oh i just realised the switch is there because the boot light is on when the lights are on, so at night all the time!)

In Sweden, dipped bean headlights on is compulsory also in daylight which means that all cars are equipped whith automatic lights. Often (as in my Felly) this means that for main beam and dashboard lights I must turn the lights on manually (and remember to switch them off) but I guess that you could come round this with alternative wiring.

Complete sets (wiring and relay) in Sweden is about £15.

Which makes sense with your tree-lined roads. What is the point someplace like here where there are basically no trees?

<meanwhile, back at the point> What's annoying about a "lights on" buzzer? I've never owned a car that didn't have one, and found the V@*xh@11s I've hired without them more annoying cos I got paranoid about them not reminding me!

There's fog and drizzle (and people forgetting putting on their lights or thinking that pilot lights are enough) and when driving towards the sun it's far more easy to note meeting cars. But I admit that now and then it's useless, and on rainy city streets it can even be a nuisance.

But it was off-topic, admittely (sorry). As to the main question I agree with you and others, the buzzer is a good thing and only annoying in those very rare instances when you have lights on, engine off and door open.
