Hello! Felicia is having an issue when turning left and holding gas pedal on, there is strange noise coming from the right front wheel, you can hear something similar when springs are too low or tyre profile too high and the tyre is scratching car's body. But my car has stock struts, springs and wheels. Front shock absorbers and wheel bearings are new. Sound is only coming when turning and accelerating at the same time. I'm thinking maybe driveshaft is rubbing the gearborx, is it possible? Have changed both gearbox rubber mountings as well, but not the engine one, which is situated next to water pump. Old one does not look good, but changing is not easy either I guess. What do the experienced Felicia-owners-DIY mechanics think about this case? Thanks,

| sorry, can you clarify this a bit?? is the tyre touching the body or is it just making the same sort of sound that would make??

| For my money i would guess that the wishbone balljoint or driveshaft is stuffed.

Yep, but I just changed the CV joint rubber boot couple of weeks ago and the joint looked fine and balljoint was OK too. Well, maybe I just don't know how they should look or feel like Just discovered a tiny hole in the new gaiter, seems that I can do the same work again now Maybe it is reasonable to renew the CV joint also just in case...

You should be able to feel a shot balljoint when you jack the car up. Of course, we might be off on a tangent, and it's another of the odd noises a stone unde a dust shield makes.

i get it sometimes to, is a very high pitch humming sound right, and it only happens whe you turn to a specific side while you accelerate, if you lift your foot it goes away right? i was thinking of taking my car to get the front aligned and balance cus it happens also if the tire is a little deflated

It is not very high pitch sound but it does go away when I lift my foot from gas. But yes, I do have the mudflaps on, and just checked them out, the outer corners are pretty scratched. Thanks rigsby for great idea, I will make some road-tests in the evening to find out if the flap is bad ![]()

Put some parcel tape over them, go for a run, and see if it gets scraped.

Ok, installed brand new CV joint today: Great success... NOT! Noise is still there. This thing is getting really weird, I am totally out of ideas. Wheel bearing seems just fine as well. Is it possible that the wishbone balljoint can generate such a scratching noise?

I'm sure my old Astra made a similar noise once. if it only happens when turning its probably the steering rack or one of the steering related joints and bushes.
