Well I've just fixed my starter motor and may well have cured the leak in my Felicia only to get pulled by the police yesterday for no brake lights. Hoever when I got home they were both working so I sat pressing the brake pedal again and again. It seems there must be a loose connection somewhere or a faulty switch as sometimes it works other times it doesn't. Any ideas anyone?

I have lots of ideas. However you seem to have correctly identified the only ones that apply in your situation.

i also had this problem, check the connection on the upper back part of the brake pedal, it sometimes works loose when I let my feet dangle around behind the pedals.
