Well boy, it's like this. Power costs. How fast can you afford to go? ![]() More seriously:- 1) Driver upgrade (IAM or similar) 2) Freeflow air filter. 3) Brake upgrade 4) Damper upgrade 5) Sports exhaust 6) Remap Items (2) and (5) will give some increase on anything with an EMS, as long as the injectors don't max out.

In principle, what you want to do to get maximum flow for a given cross-section is maintain lamilar flow as much as possible. This means:- 1) Avoid big changes of section. 2) Keep the pipe interior smooth. 3) Avoid tight bends. So that would be a proper decat pipe then.

Indeed. In the general case you can remap (either in software, or hardware by replacing the EPROM chip or adding an intercept chip) any car which uses electronic controls for determining ignition timing and fuelling, so pretty much anything with a lambda sensor and catalytic convertor.

i think it would need to be chipped (hardware) rather than re-mapped (software)

I have a felicia estate. !.6 mpi laurent and klement special edition i don't really want a sports exhaust because my m8's car have them and they always get pulled over, so i like the "im in a skoda so im not a boy racer" aproach! So i have decided I was gonna buy a induction kit as its cheaper too. How much performance would you say it would increase by? because the top speed is only about 105 mph or 112 down hill.

You might see 5bhp or so increase; depends on how much cooler and less restrictive the induciton kit runs.

| i reckon you'd be lucky to see any gain at all compared when compared to a nice new standard filter

Somewhere in the range Tom and I mention. As I say, it really depends a lot on the standard design (which I don't know). Also, I was quoting an "open road" figure; the rolling road figure will be lower, because part of the gain from a well-designed free-flow intake is from getting cooler air to the engine, which doesn't happen unless the car's moving.
