Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

I noticed this on SCN this morning and it looks to be a true winner. Those of us with the Neuspeed Short Shifter can vouch for the improvement these devices offer.

The Forge part seems to be better on two counts, not only is it adjustable to suit your requirements but it's a darn sight cheaper at £76.26 inc VAT!!! Forge offered SCN users 10% discount and I'm pretty sure they extend that to Briskoda members.

Forge - I'm sure you have got it covered but do you know the Octy II (and the other A5 cars) has two sizes of spiggot on the linkage? More info in my Neuspeed Review -http://www.briskoda.net/forums/gearb...shifter/61437/.

Quote:
This quickshifter, once installed, will allow you to shorten the movement of your gear shift in order to obtain the optimum shifting times required for performance driving . You can personally customise the throw to suit your own preference due to an infinitely adjustable pivot mechanism. This wide range of adjustment should allow for adjustment from stock to a 40% decrease in shifter throw. This unit will fit all VAG 6 speed gear boxes as found in the Audi TT MK1 and MK2, the VW Golf MK4 and MK5, SEAT Leon MK1 and MK2, Skoda Octavia MK1 and MK2 and the Audi A3 /S3 MK1 and MK2 .

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

Guessing this one still won't fit the Fabia vRS gearbox?

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

After learning from my unpleasant Dieselgeek-fabia experience, I'm thinking of modding a standard Fabia weighted arm - by decreasing the distance between linkage point and trannie mounting shaft the fore-aft throw is decreased by a similar ratio IMHO.

Its aluminium so I'll have to take it to a friend's fabrication workshop and get the steel linkage pin pressed into a new hole drilled about 35% closer to the splined mount shaft hole. Or alternatively turn the linkage pin on a lathe to have a thinner threaded end that a nut could hold in place securely.
Side to side could be modded in a similar manner, and it's all steel so it's a piece of cake to cut/weld as needed.

Need to source a scrappie part tho' - keep the original one in case things go south...

Cheers
Bas

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

Hmm, this looks interesting enough... Bit confused about "This unit will fit all VAG 6 speed gear boxes as found in the Audi TT MK1 and MK2, the VW Golf MK4 and MK5, SEAT Leon MK1 and MK2, Skoda Octavia MK1 and MK2 and the Audi A3 /S3 MK1 and MK2"

I don't have a 6-speed gear box in my 2002 Octavia, and I'm pretty sure there never was one with it... Does that mean this is only useable if you replace the gear box first?

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

there is one listed on Skoda ETKA as a six speed (possibly diesel?)

while on the subjetc it will not fit the TTmk1 2000 six speeds with the ball socket fixing but we are working on a simple adaptation for that one.

Tried to put one on an early 2006 Octy vRS this morning and it doesn't fit!! I think you are gonna have to supply these with two spiggots for the A5 Platform cars.

FAO Forge -

The size of the smaller spiggot on the later cars is 8.4mm.

Is this still the case? Having an early 2006 Octy vRS I am very interested in whether this has been fixed or not.

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

I got one just before Christmas for my Leon. It came with two pins, one thick, one thin, so I don't know whether they are sending out both pins with each shifter.

Top quality piece of kit, easy to fit and good feel. Set about 3/4 way down but I think I may shorten it when I get a minute.

Re: Forge 6 Speed Short Shifter - All VAG 6 Speed Boxes

They should be sending both pins now.
