Yes. they do have benifits.
theres a video on the forge site somewhere showing a boostpipe collapsing under negative pressure.. any movement like that of course will eventually weaken the structure and lead to leaks/tears.

Silicon based hoses are more resiliant to deformation and heat than rubber ones are.

Is there any weakness in this area on the pd130 engine? For example construction of the turbo intake pipe..

From memory some of the intake piping is alloy on the 130 whereas its plastic/rubber on the 100 engine. Just wondering..

Well i guess the rubber intake pipes can get oiley and perish..
i bet the bottom i/c pipe is the most vunrable, as the joint usually weeps oil anyway, and thats the most common source of boost leaks etc.

Anyone know what the TIP looks like on the 130pd? Could it be uprgraded as with the 1.8T TIP?

Its very unlikely that the TIP would be suitable.. as a PD runs much more boost than a 20vt does anyway. i may have a look in a bit as im drowning the turbo in WD40 lol

Yes wouldnt expect the 1.8T tIP to fit.. just wondered if the pd130 may suffer in the same way as some modded 1.8ts do with the standard TIP, when running high boost.

lol @ WD40 - vnt actuator per chance?
