I have just emailed a few pics back to the office. Pete will host and post them in the morning. Exact dimensions are in some untidy paperwork in the boot of my car and I am scared of the dark so they can stay there until the morning. I will post this info tomorrow too. We have a 40mm depth core in Colins car but production ones may be 50mm after further tests. If 50mm aids cooling efficiency further without hindering radiator temp, AC condensing and/or lack of turbo lag then it will probably go this way.
I am sure a real test will come on Saturday at Bruntingthorpe. I hope you all have a good time but watch out for the Model T Cosworth's

Indeed, saturday should be interesting.. suppost to be a heatwave

if the weather is ok tomorrow ill pay a visit to my local dual-carridgeway drag strip and get some logs.

the current setup doesnt affect coolant or aircon at all.. as proven on the way home.. it felt like a winter morning coz the car felt really frisky.. even tho it was 24c outside

Just spotted this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t22830-budget-fmic.html

A certain person who just got his FMIC fitted posted in there

Looks like this weekend is one of those hot days Colin's referring to in that thread, heehee

Must admit that FMIC does look pretty tempting

Lol!
Let me explain...
Ive recently decided that coz my car is pushing 45k in only a year and a half, its worth naff all at trade in.. plus im generally very happy with it.. i made the decsion just to splurge on getting it modified.. at the same time its paving the way for "groundbreaking" new mods for my other furby-owning friends

besides, ive only driven up the motorway with this fmic on and im a total convert

Few features i like about this kit is how it utilizes existing pipes where possible (keeping costs down)..

Those two silver things at the top of the picture are convertors. they plug into the fabias existing "quick release" pipework to allow jublee clips (which are better in my opinion) to be used for the rest of the fmic pipework.
also as you can see, all the pipework has been custom fabricated.. and in just three days! its impressive and reassuring that forge are their own engineering and machining company, so know whats what when it comes to building pipework.

The kit runs from the end of the plastic pipe down the left side of the engine, down into the bumper, thru the fmic, and round the back of the engine where it joins up with the turbo exit pipe.

What would the impact be of making it 50 rather than 40mm as far as lag is concerned, more volume to 'fill' wouldnt it?

On a related to IC question - what happens with the old IC, is that just left where it is, disconnected no doubt, or is that area going to be usable for other stuff?

Thats what im going to find out over the next week or two.. as its a first for Forge, they dont want to go "overkill" that will affect driveability.
this current core doenst affect lag at all.. and is approx twice the capacity of the std side mount.
the side mount is currently in a box in the boot of my car... its tiny in comparison to this

The FMIC does look a hell of a lot bigger than the OEM SMIC!

The only thing I would do is paint/anodise the mounting brackets in black. They look a bit too bling thro' the grill!
