Car: black octy vrs (180BHP)
Default Shocks and springs

i would like to replace my worn out shoks and springs on my octy 1 vrs (95k on the clock now !)
could some of the briskoda partners to this site let us no what is avalible and at what price ?
i see that the FSD`S are said to be the best but im on a tighter budget.
car will need to be lowered slightly as i plan to fit a set of 18" wheels to it.

Thats not easy to do as no one makes a cheap kit for the vrs model only the normal 1.8t version we can only offer you a cheapish coilover kit!

If you would like a price on coilovers then please let me know!

Also fsd's are not made for the vrs model!

Koni Holland (The head office) Do not recognise the fitment of the fsd's to the vrs models we pressume its because of the rear anti roll bar being bigger than the standard car,we have tried in vain to get koni b.v to e-mail us evidence above what we already know that these are not correct for the vrs model's. I havnt driven a vrs with fsd's but have driven a cupra r with them fitted and i felt that particular car was dangerous to drive at speed in certain circumstances. So as a consequence we now dont sell them for that car as we feel that koni are correct that they shouldnt be fitted to that model,so if koni say that they dont fit the vrs then we must assume that they know best!

I will continue to try and get koni to send us details as to why they wont warranty these shocks if fitted to these models but with quite a few companies selling these for models that koni do not recognise we are against the majority hence why we get asked questions about this all the time!

We wont on koni's advise sell the fsd's for the vrs or the cuprs r but im sure that there are people such as yourself that have yet to expierience the boaty type front end when these are fitted with lowering springs to the above models.

I think this might open up a can of worms but i have to go by what koni tell us!

Koni's website lists FSDs for the Octavia saloon.

Yep sure do! listed as octavia rs, plus i don't think place's like awsome gti and jkm would be selling them and fitting them if they were the wrong parts. Im going to contact koni HQ myself as this seems strange to me.

Sorry you are correct it does state in the fsd offers! Koni do list the fsd's for the mk1 rs model's. We havnt fitted or tested the kit on a vrs as h+r coilovers is our prefered kit for that car! I have however driven a cupra r with fsd's and it didnt feel safe at speed which is what i informed the customer, however i am used to exspensive coilovers so maybe my view is slightly biased, you are correct that the other 2 companies mentioned do have excellent reputations and i also doubt that they would fit anything that was unsafe as such! So i guess it is just my opinion that fsd's are not for a spirited driver as british roads are very undulating and not at all like europe's mainly smooth one's and i feel that the fsd's perform like underdamped units when hitting a bump with both shocks at the same time and like hitting a pothole when hitting a bump with only one side of the car its differcult to explain but for these reasons i dont like the fsd's,well at least on the cupra r anyway however im lead to believe that the work a lot better with standard springs as that is what there designed to work with!
At the end of the day if you are happy with the performance of your suspension and dont agree with my thoughts then that's cool i guess its a personal thing.

Ok rant over

Sorry if you read this before i edited it! Its a monday morning thing..........

Mate no problem
Im just glad i did'nt waste my money on some shocks that where not meant for the vrs so glad this is sorted.
Yeah each to their own really when it come's to modding cars, and i agree coilovers are no doubt better then fsd's, but the fsd's suit my needs better for my daily driver and yes im using them with standard springs and so far have been fine, if may be a little high.
