The thing seems to work effortlessly compared to the OEM one - able to run 2 BAR all day long if desired...
Chose it as I wanted minimal turbo lag and max torque throughout the rev range. The combo of OEM size impeller and uprated compressor just made perfect sense to me... Direct bolt-on, no messing about with a bespoke exhaust manifold nor chance of potentially more turbo lag with the VNT20 series....

I have found this turbo runs best at 1.9 bar, at 2bar it feels like it holds back sometimes, on my car anyway. I have a 2bar map and a 1.9 bar map and the 1.9 bar map seems to have more linnear grunt and i have approx 230ish bhp, will know for sure on Saturday. When i had it set to 1.85bar i got a nice 221bhp. I have now it set to 1.9bar and 2% more fuel so it should be nudging 230bhp.

For some reason i get a MAF fault code short to plus if i run 2bar.

I'm wondering what figures i can actually get without the injectors.
People with good cred on here say upto 240, but others say 210-200 absolute max. I have everything sorted now after the addition of the milltek - if i go for the stage 2 what are we realistically looking at?

Incidentally, 2 different mapping companies i am looking at give 2 very different figures. One, i will call JS, says 230 with confidence, the other, which i will call A, reckons no higher than 210 and 300ft without injectors. thats a BIG BIG difference.

Just trying to suss which of the TD units to go for now my mind is made up to use one of theirs over the other alternatives.

You should reach 230bhp but after that it gets smokey.

Power wise with standard nozzles you'd be lucky to see more than 200bhp there are tuners in the vag scene that do bend the truth as far as power figures are concered, and power graph's can tell a story as well if you look at a well known tuning companies graph for your car you will see that the alleged power band is only 900rpm wide at around 230bhp which is about as much use as a chocalate teapot!
So if you want a very peaky car i guess there maps will be ok but i would be careful,im still looking at geting custom-code to do me a map for the 130pd with a td turbo etc on it!
we will see what happens in the near future......

Default Re: Turbo Dynamics turbos

In fairness the turbo gives a good spread of power. I have been using this turbo for nearly 2 years and running it 1.9 bar to 4500 rpm. On a accurate ish RR where remapped PD 130's are running 170ish bhp my car produces 221 bhp and holds well to the redline with no apparent die off to the redline. However i think 220bhp is the limit then it starts to get smokey if you go above it.

I have my own ECU flasher and have loads of maps i have tried and that is the final conclusion i have come to regarding my turbo.

Hi i have a felicia 1.3 8v (135)i am replacing the pistons of the engine with the (136) model which are high pressure. Would it be possibile to put a low pressure turbo with them or shall i let the old ones int?

thanks

You wont be able to turbo the car if you are increasing the compression you need to reduce it slightly for a low boost turbo, however some cars will run happily on a turbo with no mods to the engine internals at all but we havnt turbo'd a felicia engine i would try and fit a 1.8 t engine from a golf as this would be an interesting conversion!
