| Here I am going to show how to attach a picture: 1. Start by posting a reply - note you need the "advanced" option, you can't do this from the "quick reply" box at the bottom of the thread. Click on the "post reply" button at the top of the thread, or the "go advanced" button at the bottom: You get the post screen. Type in your text. Now to add an attachment. Scroll down below the text input area, and you'll see a "manage attachments" button: ![]() The "manage attachments" window will pop up. If you have a popup blocker running, you may have to disable it, or add briskoda.net to your list of sites permitted to display popups. Click the top "browse" button: ![]() Browse to where the file(s) are located that you want to attach. For permitted types, look just above the "manage attachments" button in the main window. You may add up to 5 attachments - when you have selected them, click the "upload" button: ![]() After a pause, when a status message will appear telling you to wait, the uploaded file name(s) should appear in the attachments window: ![]() Close the attachments window. Now, in the main window, the names of your attachments should also appear: ![]() That's it! When you press "submit reply" your post will be submitted, and the attachments will be attached.

| OK, so you've mastered attaching pics using the "Manage Attachments" button, but you don't like the way your pictures appear as thumbnails, and open in a new window when someone clicks them. There's also the problem that they always appear at the bottom of your post, so you can't use them interleaved with your text to illustrate a point. This is where linked images come in. A linked image isn't uploaded, it exists somewhere else on the internet, and is linked into the post by its URL (address). The image can be anywhere - if you have a private webspace provided to you by your ISP, you can host it there, or you can upload it to your Briskoda gallery. This is the option I will explain here. First, you need an image. For the web, there isn't usually much point having images any larger than the screen display the user is using, and since often there is other stuff to look at at the same time, like text which puts the picture in context, maybe less. Similarly, there isn't much point having photo-quality images on the screen because the eye can't see imperfections in small size images. So, before uploading it, resize your image. JPG is probably the easiest format to work with, and even the most basic program, MSPaint, can save JPGs these days. So reduce your image to say 1024x768, or even 800x600, and save it as a JPG, and it will be a manageable size for uploading and display. ... to be continued ...

| Nick, I'm in the embarassing position of being a mod and not knowing where to go. See here: http://xavier.fotopic.net/p23212803.html I would have attached a pic instead of linking, but I can't do that, can I ![]()
