Talking Alientech Switchable Map device - group buy?

This could be one of the least taken up group buys ever BUT you never know.

I'm looking to buy ASAP an alientech map switching device. What this gadget does is store 3 maps on it, and you can switch between them via the OBD port. The plan for me is to have a "stock" map, a "clean fast" map, and a "sh1tloads of fuel fast" map for drag runs and nitrous use. The idea being to run it in clean fast map most of the time and "stock" when I'm particularly bored.

The cost to me is £175. The key point about this machine is the maps stored on it can ONLY be in .mod or .bin file format. This would need clarifying with your mapper but I already know Allard can work with this without any issues. So I'm hoping they can do me three maps to stick on this device.

Anyone else fancy one. I might be able to knock 10% off or so if I can order 5 or more at the same time.

OBD Tuning Tools Information about how to use obd2 tools
These are the guys who sell the kit, although it's not on this link. I just know they do it.

Please PM me or add your name.

So basically is a blank one click that can store multiple maps.

Yup - Sounds like it - with the ability to connect to a PC and backup the maps too, just in case. It's basically something that I've always wanted to be. A flasher....

PS: Thanks for the help earlier. Not heard if he's checked out the fuel filter yet.

Not precisely. Only word of mouth from someone abroad who uses it, and I'll be speaking to the chap who can get them tonight to discuss precisely what it does.

Does sound like a very good idea.

Not a problem on the help either, lift pumps do seem to be a fairly common issue at the moment. Seems to be down to fuel contamination from the oil system, blocks the filters and knackers the lift pumps. Enough off topic conversation though. We can statt another thread on that if needs be.

I think it's called the AlienTech Powergate.

If it's what I think it is then Chipped UK and Angel Tuning offer it marketed as the ST3 (Selftune 3)

I'm about to find out for sure when I pay for it in a little while (waiting for the guy to ring back)

It's not just a case of "storing 3 maps" but the maps can be put into the software on a PC and fiddled around with, downloaded back to the alientech, then put onto the car. For me, that side of things is dangerous so I wouldn't be using it for that. It does mean though in theory, you could have as many maps as you like.

It is not a remapping tool per say, but each controller is coded to just ONE car first of all so there is no sharing of files between cars. It can be switched between cars but is complicated to do.

Have no idea mate. But its good to know that there is a device out there to switch maps around which is not too expensive. It seems like the perfect answer to my "clean map VS smokey NOS map" dilemma.

OK. I've now paid for this item. Seems it was actually cheaper, so £150 all in.

The model is actually the "powergate pro" and there's fairly limited info on the interwebby thing about it. Will be giving it a trial during next week to see how it works coding to my car, and then I'll see if anyone else wants one.

I did read that there were ways of making it universal between cars.

I'm not sure if I would be able to download a map to my PC, send it to someone else over the web, and they flash their own car with their own powergate pro? I would only ever really want to use maps that had been tried/tested/developed on my car, not ones done on other cars.

No - It was just for the unit itself.

I am currently in the position of having taken my current remap off my car, and stuck it on my PC. And now have 2 spare slots on the powergate to upload to the car.
