| Hi guys... I've done a search and read a few bits n bobs but i just wondered if anybody could offer any further comments on the two companies above? Basically, after reading about the freedom discount offered by Adrian Flux, I've just contacted them for a quote and I'm pretty pleased and surprised with the results. I'm 25. Had licence for 3.5 years. 3 yrs no claims. no accidents at all 4000miles per year 6 points from two sp30 convictions within the last 12 months married, home owner, teacher. They've quoted me fully comp £250 excess, £75 windscreen unlimited stereo cover 5000miles up to 90day euro cover inc can drive any other vehicle 3rd party legal protection courtesy car for £521 through Highway insurance. My previous best quote was for £560 from Direct Line and didn't include some of the benefits listed above. Therefore, I'm pretty sold except that I've never dealt with Adrian Flux before and haven't even heard about highway. Does anyone have any experiences with either companies (particularly Highway), especially when it comes to making claims??? I'm guessing it may be worth my while phoning Brent Acre and Chris Knott before purchasing just in case the price comes down even further though. |

| All the three brokers you mention are reputable Joe. I would contact all three and see if you can make any further savings. It's not unheard of for quotes to reduce with brokers such as these, when you ring round and price match one against the other Sounds a competitive quote to start with though. Steve

| Heard a few bad stories about Highway which put me off renewing with them (well that and I managed to beat their renewal price!). I've been with Adrian Flux for a couple of years now and, aside from the £25 handling fee for any policy changes, I'm very happy with them. They will also price-beat most quotes. My policy is underwritten by Equity Redstar, but my opinions may change if I ever have to claim! ![]() Chris

| Adrian Flux are well enough known and usually "considered reputable". Never heard of the underwriter, but since AF are a brokerage, that's their problem, not yours. |

Have you tried NFU Insurance? Not the cheapest, but you wont find a better company when you have to claim, and as far as extras IE alloys remaps etc just tell them and they are fine about it ! Radiotwo

| PM Moose (Richard) about his experiences with them. On the flip side, I think Stuart J might be with them and they were excellent in sorting out his wife's claim. I guess you'll hear problems with pretty much all insurers so it's always a gamble ![]() Chris

| I'm with AF this year and they were pretty good once I got through the bu115hit. I too am with Equity Redstar who's policy seems very comprehensive. I had previously got a quote from Equity Redstar Directly which was lower that AF but without any modifications. AF beat it when pressed and included mods. They weren't the lowest price AF offered me, they try to steer you toward a company who's name currently escapes me but which is based in Malta and is owned by an AF director. THey will try all sorts of tactics and questions to get a phone number and email address from you. I always maintain that they don't need it and refuse to give it but when you call you get questions like "can you confirm your home telephone and email address" When I know full well they don't have it. I posted my experiences at the time so it might be worth seeing if the search turns it up. Chris - I've managed to avoid the admin fees so far as well. (done change of car and change of address) They gave me what seemed to be a very good quote for an Elise last week as well. Quote Briskoda for a discount as well.

Norwich Union? Yeh, I've had a quote from them and it was about £580. I may be able to knock that down as I think they might be able to do me an extra teacher's discount.

| NFU - National Farmers' Union. It sounds bizzare, but they don't just insure agricultural workers. However, since they're a co-operative, they don't actually look to pay a dividend to stakeholders from their profits (and hence set same on needed capital for advertising and reinvestment). |

| One interesting development to report... I've spoken to Chris Knott and they've essentially offered me the same policy as with Adrian Flux, but they're quoting unlimited mileage and a slightly lower windscreen excess for £499.99. They also seemed confident they would beat whatever Adrian Flux tried to quote. Look's like the game's on!!!! |
