CD Changer Problem

Hi Guys,

Ive had a look through loads of threads and cant find my exact problem. BASICALLY -

If you turn the symphony headunit on and instantly press cd it flashes cd 0 TR 63 then sometimes flashes NO MAGAZINE really quickly before turning back to the radio

If you then press the cd button nothing happens. The multichanger leads are fine both ends ( although Ive not popped them out of the changer)

The multichanger has power as it will spit out the cartridge and take it in.

This is on a friends 1.6 Octavia... Any ideas what could be the problem?? I dont want to just change the changer for the sake of it.. Anything else I can try??

Oh also the rear washer wipe works and theres no signs of any water damage in the past..

as for the cd changer could be a broken wire or the laser needs cleaning mate

when I first got my mk1 octy, I had the same problem. I don't think the person who had the car before me ever even used the cd changer and all it really needed was a good clean out....including a little bit of a hoover!....
