Default Fabia symphony stereo hiss...

On my vRS Fabia, when the stereo volume is at '0', engine off (haven't actually driven anywhere other than from the dealer due to illness this week!) there is quite a loud 'hisssss' from all speakers, whether playing a CD or on the radio tuner mode. (It has a CD changer as well but haven't tried this yet).

Anyone else come across this and/or a fix/pointers to the problem (just to give me some ammo for the dealer next week).

Cheers,

MDW.

I'm surprised you get hiss when the engine is not running – is it “an ear next to the speaker” quiet hiss or “can hear it half a mile down the road” really loud hiss?

If it is loud, the car is new and the stereo or wiring has not been messed with then I would hassle the dealer. The stock unit is not brilliant, but it should be quiet at zero volume.

It sounds like a fault with the HU IMO - It seems to be sending out strange signals to all the speakers... If it was just one doing it perhaps it would be different...?

This is the sort of worst scenario why I've never kept the standard HU's for that long and upgraded as soon as I could. I wonder if you can ask for a car to come with no HU at all... just the connectors?

Sounds like poor grounding...get your dealer to fix it...
