I am a bit fed up with the Radio reception on the standard unit. It is absolutely rubbish and wont hold a signal half the time. Now, I have read lots of threads on here but nothing really helps. If I get Skoda to change the head unit (it also turns itself off when I change preset channels) is it likely to improve or is this just usual for these units ? If so, is there anything I can do and would a new head unit from Pioneer or Alpine etc be any better ?

I removed the standard Fabia VRS head unit and replaced it with a Clarion DXZ648RMP cd/mp3 player. The radio reception and sound quality have vastly improved so I would say its a no brainer to put a good quality aftermarket head unit in. I am not saying Clarion is the best make by any means I just liked the sound quality. Very helpful people and good prices here...http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/index.html All you need to finish the job is a trim plate to cover the gap above the new head unit in the dash this costs £3 from any Skoda dealer.

Not had that much trouble with it, tbh. Only problem is the TA is very, very sensitive.
