Default Fitting amp. and car-pc.

Big Q is Where?

Are there spaces behind/under the dash big enough to take an in-car pc, roughly DIN stereo sized? I'm Thinking of a mini-itx or other small footprint system.

Is there anything under the driver's seat that would hamper me stuffing my amp. under there. It's an Infinity 7502?

Cheers,

J.

Doubt it. I think them furbies are as tight as a duck's *** but you never know. It's all a black art to me.

I doubt very much you'll be able to fix a mini-itx PC behind the dash somewhere. The only place possible would be above/behind the glovebox but you have the airbag there.

Re fitting the amp under the driver's seat, it may be possible but I guess you'd need to raise the seat to it's maximum height for it to fit which may then give you an uncomfortable driving position. Alternatively, did you get the passenger height adjuster as an option?

Either way, you'd need to remove the seat to have access and whilst that's a fairly easy job, you ought to use new spline bolts when you refit the seat Also, tweaking may be tricky with the seat in place...

Failing that, it's all an in-the-boot job

Is there not an airbag in the side of the seat too. Can you just disconnect it without VAG-COM?

<sigh>

I got the amp. out today to have a look at it. It's not exactly small. Under the passenger seat might be good but only if I pull the CD-Changer out. I don't want to lose that ATM.

Under the driver's seat might be OK if I ditch the mini-storage-bin. I'll have to have a poke around tomorrow.

I was thinking this as an idea because I don't want to loose the CD changer. Let me know what kinda space is available

when my furby arrives ill be looking for somewhere to hide my mini itx aswell, and somewhere to mount my llilliput 7" touchscreen monitor, i think maybe below the hifi somewhere.. need to look a bit more into the layout of the fabia.

keep me posted as to where you find an area to put the mini itx.

on a quick look at the layout of the center console from VRStus pics of his seat recovers (which look mint btw) it looked like you could place the screen just infront of the gearstick.

tho if someone could post some detailed pics of the dash and that area would be appreciated.

Default Idea!

What about....

Replace RVM with screen and rear facing camera. Re-fit RVM above/underneath screen or on top of the console. I'll have to play with an appropriately sized box to see where a mini-itx could fit.

Re. amp. under the seats: Looked under the seats. My only option would appear to be under the driver's seat, towards the front (bye bye underseat box). An amp. with inputs, power and outputs all on the one face would help. Unfortunately the one I have now doesn't which makes its footprint requirements that much bigger.
