|  Fitting Rainbow front speakers to Mk1 vRS Are there any brackets or anything you can fit? I have the 16.5cm 265 SLC Rainbows which are 66mm deep i think. What is the best way to fit them and where do you put the crossovers? Many Thanks Chris

|  Re: Fitting Rainbow front speakers to Mk1 vRS 4x4t has fitted some Rainbows in his front doors. At the moment he has an Autoleads adaptor spacing them out and has cut a little bit of door away to clear the window mechanism. I've got some SLX 265 Deluxe I'm going to fit in my front doors. I'm going to use MDF rings to space mine out, it'll give a much better mount than the plastic adaptor. As an aside, the tweeters will clip straight into the factory locations, I know as I bought a new pair of trims and my new tweeteres are in the ready to be installed! I think I remember 4x4t saying he has his crossovers mounted down in the footwell. This is good if you want to adjust the settings on them as you don't have to take your door apart, but then you have to get two lots of speaker cable through the door mulitplug instead of one. I think I'm going to find somewhere inside the door to mount my crossover, not sure yet. I have a pic from 4x4t showing the bit you need to cut away from the door, I'm sure he won't mind me sharing it!  The bits marked with a red cross are what need cutting away, I'm not sure if you could space the speaker out more to clear it or if it might foul on the door card. Like I said, these are all tips 4x4t has given me, I haven't fitted mine yet, I haven't even looked behind the doorcards yet!

I am running/planning to run: Rear components = JBL 550c (already got) http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/1333.html Genesis 4 channel amp for front and rear components = Still looking on ebay Genesis mono amp for sub Subwoofer (am thinking may be rockford fosgate) Not quite sure how I am going to install the subwoofer or where I am going to locate the amps. The two ideas I have for the subwoofer (copied from others): [IMG]  [/IMG] Both these appeal to me due to there space saving nature. I have already spoken to auto acoustics and the box is £200 delivered so I think I might go for the other option as it will probably be a lot cheaper. Thanks Chris

| Re: Fitting Rainbow front speakers to Mk1 vRS I've got a cheapy JBL GT4-12 sub in a box like you've shown there, running off of a JBL GTO 75.4 amp which is mounted behind the spare wheel. I've then covered that with a false floor so I still have most of my boot space and a full size spare wheel. The other two channels of the amp will run the Rainbows in the front doors and I'll leave the stock rear seakers as they are with the tweeters disconnected. I'm waiting for my driveway to be done and some good weather before I strip the front doors down. I've got lots of sound deadening and some MDF rings made up for the mids. This is all run off an Alpine CDA-9887R with an iPod lead.

| Re: Fitting Rainbow front speakers to Mk1 vRS Yeah, that looks like the right one, I'm 100% sure on that though, like I said I'm using MDF rings instead. I was going to make them up myself but after seeing that you can get them on eBay for a fiver I thought I'd safe myself the hassle. I've ordered two pairs, one pair in 9mm thick MDF, the other in 28mm thick. I'm hoping the 18's on their own will be thick enough, if not I'll glue them onto the 9's before fitting it all in.
