Yes, 3 points and £60. Your license will also be endorsed with a TS10 offence code.

That said, if the light was red, it would flash but they normally dont flash on amber and some are setup so that the camera is only enabled after red has been showing for a period of time, say 1/2 second.

TS10 is the endorsement you would get for failing to stop at traffic signals. It brings three points.

IIRC (they go off all the time in London*) they only flash once, they do not need to go off twice as they are not recording your speed (a speed camera takes 2 photo's) just that you have gone through the red light, so one photo is enough.

* this is from others going through red lights not me BTW!

They need to go off twice.

Once to show you behind the line and once to show you past it.

Erm, I will beg to differ there.......

The Peizo strips are just past the white lines on the ground so how would the camera take a pic BEFORE you have crossed the line?

need to go off twice, to proove that you went through the red light and hadn't just pulled up over it/ stuck slightly over it due to traffic. Most red light cameras are also speed cameras when activated. Do a search on google for red light cameras, alll the photos show 2 images. I am paranoid about red light cameras, at say 200 yards and they are green do you slow down to a crawl just in case? they always seem to cahange just as i am about to cross the line If you only think you saw a flash and only one at that, then the odds are it was light reflecting and catching your eye rather than a flash, no point worrying about it you'll know in 14 days
