| Part 5 –The Great Funky Jutel Stereo Install – The Finale!!So here it is…the finale. The last thing to fit was the speakers. Now this proved to be fun, real fun. Rich advised me to go for Crystal Mobile Sound components for the front and to scrap the rears totally. This wasn’t hard given the ****e quality of all the speakers. Infact having this fitted has made me realize just how bad the original set up really is. The speakers are a joke!! Well getting the Crystals in was not easy. Firstly the size of the magnet on the cone meant it didn’t fit in the standard aperture. So a little metalwork was needed, to fashion them into place. The inner skin was slightly modified to allow the speakers to sit into place. This meant cutting a very small piece out of the inner skin to allow mounting. It was actually easier than we first thought. Once this was done, we offered the speaker up and it sat perfectly into the space and onto the spacing ring, which the original cones were attached to. One thing to make sure of and anyone with a standard system, may want to do this as a very sure way to eliminate rattle. Put some aquaseal (very small pieces) on the mounting face of the ring that holds the cone, where the ring sits onto the door skin. This eliminates vibration and gives a better seal. With this done, we moved onto fitting the tweeters. Now the soft dome tweeters that Crystal supply are a fair bit larger than the diddy originals, so I had to pull the existing one’s out of their casing and cut away the moulding that houses them. Then I had to hot glue the new tweeters to the inside of the door (see picture) and solder the leads together. Once done, I pushed the original cover back into place with a shove and put some electrical tape round the plastic lugs that hold the cover onto the door. The circle was now complete…..my young apprentices……….. Then let the fun begin. We turned the whole thing on and WWWWHHHHHOOOOOAAA!!!!! It kicked like a bloody mule. First track was Royksopp (Track 2 from the album) There was so much bass that I could feel my kidneys vibrating……………. Needless to say that I had a grin the size of Africa on my face………… Hope you like the accompanying picys and if anyone needs advice or guidance, I might not be the best person but I know two eminently qualified chaps that are!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they’re cheap….oh sorry ….. low cost!! Oh I almost forgot, we mounted the crossovers one under the dashboard and one under the glovebox both out of view..........
