Default ICE advice please - Screen/SatNav/DVD/TV required

I'm looking at changing my OEM head unit and have several requirements - I need.

Sat Nav capability
TV tuner ability
DVD ability
CD changer ability
FM Tuner

Needs to be cheap ish so I'm thinking about ebay etc.

Current thoughts are to go with an Alpine unit with the fold out display, these can work with optional modules to achieve the desired configuration.

I like the way the Aline unit folds away to look slightly OEM when parked up, I know you can get the Skoda OEM unit fitted but at £695 plus the extra cost of TV tuner and DVD it will work out significantly more than the Alpine option.

Not thought about maybe buying/ building a "Carputer" Goochie??? Then you just need a HU with AUX input!

Yes, I'd like to run a "Carputer" with VAG-COM if possible - but thats a different kettle of fish.

I really would like a CD changer so using the carputer DVD-ROM isnt an option

how about the JVC head unit i have phil, it plays mp3/wma/cd/dvd with inputs for multi-changers, so you can buy a sagem digi-box for about £35 that will plug straight into it. it has a removable face like most others but with a 3" tft built onto that face

i'm sre we could arrange a mini-mini-meetif you wanted to see it. they also only cos about £400 new if you shop about

Errr why couldnt you put all the MP3's(convert your cd's) that you could ever possibly want onto the computer (never need a cd in the car again!) ???
Plus if you get a wireless adaptor you can wack them straight across to the pc whilst your cars sat in the drive

You didn't mention a price limit.

Sure it was less than that....closer to £1.2k...still alot though...but a quality item.

The Alpine unit has the capability to drive auxilary units. The Satnav module is a separate item I believe. This ebay item shows you what you need for satnav and cd changer.

Me still thinks a car computer would work out cheaper and all in one box .....

Sat/nav, Mp3, Dvd, DivX, E-mail, Internet blah blah blah n how cool would it be to transfer files using wireless

ok then 150bhp - what price would i be looking at for such a setup? I'd happily build one myself if I knew where to get the parts from.

I could potentially keep the OEM head unit for FM radio too.

If you go for it, go for it fully. Get an FM card for the computer.

Biggest £££ I've found pricing mine up is the screen. If you go for a really good one for touchscreen and no glare etc, you're looking at many £££.

But there are cheap ones I suppose...
