Default insurance age?

just wondered what the average sort of age was of the furby vrs owners on here, seeing as i had a bit of trouble insuring my car as i needed to be over 21 and i is only 19... are they a high insurance group or anything? because i paid £1500 tpft under my mums name with my gf as a main driver...

I insured one at 20, and I'm sure there's someone on here who's 18.

and why are you insuring a "at least" £6k car third party!?

I didn't you could insure a £6k car tpft. Whenever I've got quotes, I've been told that I had to have comprehensive due to the value of the car

yup, same here

I'd not want to insure anything over around £1500 on TPFT anyway!

Fabia vRS is group 9 - so not that high.

Your car, insured under your mums names, with your gf as the main driver I suggest that if you need to insure it under your mums name that your re-register the car in her name too, saves the added hassle should you ever wish to make a claim.

tptf on a 6k+ plus, I wouldn't be taking that risk. Equally I wouldn't of bought a car without getting insurance quotes first.

Em, this is insurance fraud. What would be legal though, is to have a parent (preferably the one with the longer clean licence) as a named driver, cos that can save several hundred quid in premium.

There are a lot of factors in getting a good insurance quote and age/experience is just one. I personally would not be insuring TPFT on anything worth any money and also you may get into difficulty should you ever want to claim (as the car's in your name but you're neither the policy holder or main driver, which may puzzle them)

Insurance is part of the cost of owning and running a car - if you can't afford to insure and run the car, you can't afford the car.........

At 26 after only being driving for a year I managed to insure my Fabia vRS for £550 fully comp.. my renewal came through recently and that was £620...

Cheapest online quote I got was £550 not that I'll be needing it though

I was 18 with a modified Fabia vRS, brand new 06 plate and paying Fully Comp £1500.

Search around... Use confused.com, or better I find for younger people , moneysupermarket.com

Paying £770 for the ST on a 57 plate... and it wont cost any extra if I get a remap

I do like the Astra VXR but I ruled it out as it only comes in a 3dr...

I've seen a few of the Mazda3 MPS's around.. very understated! but one thing to consider is they're band G road tax
