I use endleigh who are brokering for Zuric, I'm 18 0 NCB, 3 pts, 1 claim - 2,700. Skoda Fabia 1.4 8v. If I was to tell you how much I pay you'd all loose faith in humanity and cry so just live in knowlage that it was a good £600 cheaper than the next quote.

Try Admiral or Brentacre. Brentacre are great as they know their stuff when it comes to modifications. If your car is standard, try Confused.com and ring up the insurers to confirm the quotations

24, Tesco, 5yrs no claims. £430 with the exhaust declared. I'll probably change in November as I'll be getting a remap next year and Tesco won't touch it then.

Default Re: Insurance

This may be a little off topic, I don't know but..

I am 18 and soon to be 19, which is when I get my first years NCB

For a Skoda Fabia vRS Quinn Direct will insure me for £2500
For a Skoda Fabia 1.9TDi (100bhp) Quinn Direct will insure me for £1200

The next insurers up where £500 odd and more, more expensive so I am guessing they may specialize in diesels?

The Fabia vRS only has 30bhp more, so can someone else explain to me why it will cost me over double for the vRS? I know they are different insurance groups but they have the same (or similar) engine and can be picked up for similar prices yet are so much more expensive on insurance

I will be taking my pass plus soon which will relieve a few hundred quid from the insurance, so I should only be paying £800 or so.

A quick tip, try GoCompare

It will display many different insurers for you to compare, when you phone the insurer tell them that you were quoted online so and so and they should give you the insurance for that or as close to the price as they can.

Maybe I could have started a new thread but it's best to keep the forum tidy heh lads?

Thanks

Default Re: Insurance

Basically, there's lots of factors in arriving at what individual insurers will charge and they will all look at them slightly differently. It's not just the 'how fast is it' factor but also things like: desirability (is it a theft magnet); thievability (how good is the security, what is the standard audio equipment, has it got big alloys); type of construction (any aluminium suspension or composite components); repairability (will this be harder or easier than another model, availabilty of parts - that's why some won't touch imports); etc etc. Then it depends whether the insurer is actively attracting or avoiding a particular market segment and how much compulsory excess they will apply to the policy. And don't forget that insurers will modify their ratings following guidance from the ABI and, more so, their own claims experience.
So, easy to figure out then

I went with axa swiftcover because mine isn't modded but as soon as I do they won't touch it.

22 4yrs NCB but put my Mum as a named driver (due to me having 3 points and not fancying paying a grand!). Doubt she'll be getting that close to it but with her on it I got mine for £540 or so.

Will be looking at changing companies though when I renew as by then there may be a mod or two.

Personally from my experience, Quinn Direct are useless, a limousine decided he wanted the lane I was in going under a bridge on the pentagon island in derby, hit my drivers side doors and spun me round

quinn direct rep supposedly local claimed it went down to one lane under the bridge even though I had photos clearly showing two lanes, and even if it was one lane I wasnt the one changing lanes, I was following my clearly marked lane round.

anyway they decided as i was a young driver and he was a professional driver that it wasn't worth the hassle and that they'd put me down as liable!!!

Quinn direct - cheap as hell, but you certainly get what you pay for! F**KING USELESS!!!!
