Car: Silver Octy VRS (###BHP) | Made for iPod Players Has anyone used or know anything about these players? Made For iPod Players from Sony, Ripspeed, Pioneer , Kenwood, Alpine, JVC at Halfords *
I'm looking for an iPod solution for my car, I'm not to keen on the Denison cables and as I don't use my CD Changer or tape player, I thought I could just replace the headset and then when I eventually change cars (in around 20 years according to the Wife), I can take it with me and install the standard unit again.
Some of the players are only supplied by Halfords, which is a down point as most other places would sell them cheaper.
I really like the look of the Alpine units.
opinions??
Thanks

Car: Red Octavia (Standard+ P-Torque) | Re: Made for iPod Players All the made for iPod stuff is just a marketing thing that show it will work with an iPod and nothing more really.
Ive got an alpine unit myself with the iPod cable and installed it in the glove box which took me all about 30minutes to install.
This Car Audio Direct - Alpine CDE-9880R - CD Player is the updated version of mine all you need to do is get the cable below and your good to go

Car: black Octavia (180BHP I guess) | Re: Made for iPod Players I bought a Sony "made for ipod" unit from halfords a few days ago. Was reduced from £260 to £130 and when I paid, they only charged me £95!!

Car: Octavia (###BHP) | Re: Made for iPod Players I bought the Harmon Kardon ipod kit which is really great. You leave the ipod in your glovebox and wire it up to a screen which sits on the dash and displays the ipod menus. There is a controller that mimicks the ipod controller that I mounted beside the gearlever to change tracks. It also charges your ipod and can be wireless or hard wired in. They cost about £80 from Halfords but svp.co.uk do refurbished ones (with 1yr warranty) for about £28 inc postage which is great!!

Car: Black Octavia (206bhp, 210ftlb) | Re: Made for iPod Players Alpine's Full Speed iPod control gets my vote, however if you fancy spending some dollar then double din W200ri has the best iPod control ive ever used, and Alpines D310 and other flip out screens.

Car: #000000 Superb (###BHP / ###lbs/ft) | Re: Made for iPod Players I'll post up some proper details when i get a chance but the Alpine 9884R is superb. The percentage search on it is a real bonus over the earlier versions as i've got over 900 albums and 600 artists to go through! The oercentage search helps split it down so you can find things easier in your lists. The switchable colour scheme enables you to select green to match the Octavia's interior nicely. Very nice although compared to the subtle and tasteful OEM unit it still looks like a blackpool addicts wet dream and designed by a 5 year old, something it unfortunately shares with virtually all aftermarket headunits.

Car: Silver Octy vRS (180BHP / 173lbs/ft) | Re: Made for iPod Players I have the Alpine 9887 (from caraudiodirect) - was a good price with the cable (£291 delivered) and works well with loads of features for setting the system up.
I-pod control is very good on the whole; however word of warning for anyone who wants to make use of the built in phone bluetooth system on this head unit - DON'T BOTHER!
You need a seperate box to plug into the head unit that has to dasiy chain with the i-pod cable and then introduces a nasty high pitched whine into everything from the i-pod, regardless of ignition being on or off.
That plus the horrible echo the other person gets to hear at anything above whisper levels of volume your end adds up to a wasted purchase - I'm still awaiting the refund from the ebay seller I purchased from!

Car: Silver Octy VRS (###BHP) | Re: Made for iPod Players Well I have looked at them all and I really like this one http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/8143.html
I have read a few reviews on various websites and they are very good and some rate better than the Parrot system, which seems to have many bugs with a lot of people returning them. I am not sure what if any difference there is between the iDA-X200 and X300 (other than cost). The X100 is out of my price range, which is a shame.

Car: #000000 Superb (###BHP / ###lbs/ft) | Re: Made for iPod Players IIRC the 300 also cannot take a CD changer which precludes you from playing CD's in your car at all. That was what stopped me from looking at it. IIRC the jog wheel is also a full rotate rather than a 2 stage 100deg range of motion on the more expensive models.
