Default Octy Multi Cd Changer And Cd-r's

Anyone have a problem playing CD-R's on the Symphony multi CD changer? Mine starts to play the CD's O.K. and as it works it's way through the CD, it starts to jump. Doesn't matter what slot the CD is in and it seems to play "real" CD's no problem. If it is a recognition problem, I'd be amazed - I have never had a problem with any player in the past and they play no problem in a crap Goodmans unit on a mates car!

Any help appreciated.

I burn a lot of CD's for the car, before I insert them I give them a wash with a weak solution of washing up liquid, seems to work.

Mine played CD-R's but not CD-RWs. Cheap aftermarket stuff usually plays both, as they nab the electronics from CD-ROM drives (probably... )

Yep, same problem here.

Solution, play a 'legit' disk for a while then back to cdr.

Found also when using Nero to burn my disks extending the track pause to 3 secs can help (default buffer is 2).

Hmmmm.... Cheers SilveRS -

Do you find it plays the first few tracks on a CD-R OK, then it begins it's tricks on later tracks?

I found it did that with a CD-RW - is it possible that your CDRs aren't "closed" properly?

Rob.
Out of interest: Could this result in some in-car players not being able to play the recent raft of (evil) "does not play on PCs" copy-protected CDs?

I'd guess so - I'm not sure quite what differentiation is used to make the copy protection work though. It's not like there's no way round it though...

Rob.
Nah - they are all closed Rob - used them in all sorts of other players without a problem, including a 17YO Technics CD Player and a 1YO £39.99 Richer Sounds special! Tried loads of different types of media, from the 10p blanks from a computer fair to TDK and Infiniti wizz-bang brands - no difference. Plays the first few tracks and begins to pause and restart on the later (outer) tracks.

Booked in for Sat Morning! And to have the Door Open Light activated/fixed and get the low speed "grawnching" sound from the front end sorted - even though this is "normal" road noise, I've previously been told by them!!! Yeah, right! . . .

Mine has problems with CDRW's it plays them ok for the first time then it starts to jump about then comes up with error message saying 'Surface'

Only way I sorted this out was to reburn on CDR then it seems ok

I find CD-Rs don't last long in my player - It could be because they're about 15p each from Macro...? BTW - just bought "Ibiza - History of Hard Dance" triple CD from Woolies! I feel some NTS NTS NTS NTS coming on....

Me too... LOL

No probs (so far) with CD-Rs in the changer. I never put originals in the car. I buy a CD (I'm old fashioned like that), then I copy it immediately for car use.

Regards,

Mark

Mark

I hope you don't try and take back the original claiming you were also bought it as a present by somebody else... At least not too often?
