Default Pioneer DEH-P8600MP display cycle driving me nuts

Anyone else got one of these? I love the stereo but on long night drives I find the display constantly cycles between dark colors to white over and over getting on my nerves when it turns to white as I can see it out of the corner of my vision over and over.

It cycles like this what ever display I have on.

I'm not the brightest button when it comes to electronics am I missing a menu option somewhere to turn the display off or set it to a permanently dark background?

Help!

Yes I've had this, it baffled me for years!!

It happens because you have one of the demo functions switched on.

You need to put the hadunit in and turn the ignition on but leave the headunit turned off.
The display should be blank.
Now press pre-set button '5'
It should beep and that should turn the display function off, problem sorted

However if that then brings up lots of graphics you need the other demo function, so press button 5 again to turn them off and then try the same thing again with button '6'

Hope this works - the switching from positive to negative, even with brighness turned right down is darn right distracting... so much so that I often just fold the head unit fascia down at night...

Cheers Si!

(Mines a 7700MP btw)

Ok, let me get this right, do you mean I have to remove the head unit 1st? Then put it back in or just the facia...?

If this works I will be so happy, last weekend driving from London to Wales I even considered putting my Sony portable on the passenger seat just so I could listen to talk sport overnight while driving as the flashing was so distracting.

With the facia on, but the headunit turned off, press the buttons suggested earlier. The ignition needs to be on.
