Sony Cdx-dab6650 Cd/mp3 Player With Dab Tuner

Has anyone fitted a SONY CDX-DAB6650 CD/MP3 PLAYER WITH DAB TUNER as there is one on ebay cliky that kevin would like ........just wondered if it was any good ?

I can't comment on that model but we had three sony Mini Disk head units, two the same and one new unit as a replacement. (Sony sold us a warrenty they discontinued but took the money so had to honor it).

All three failed, one lasted ok in the BX, that one eventually died and was repaired and died and was repaired and died and was replaced with a kenwood.

The other died was repaired, died, repaired, died, was replaced by sony after having an annoyed customer at them and then that died just outside of the extra warrenty. Was replaced with a pioneer.

I could have just had some bad luck, but I don't get the impression that the sony units last that well. Also the sound quality at higher volumes was much better from the kenwood and pioneer units than the Sony even though the sony claimed slightly hight RMS output values.

I've had the same Pioneer MP3 CD tuner for well over 4 years now, never had a problem with it at all for Pioneer.

It is 'DAB ready' but I imagine some of the versions you can buy today have the DAB kit built in.

My brother has my ancient sony MD headunit and was working fine when he removed it from his old fiesta, I have an old MDX-61 changer in my boxster hooked up to the becker oem hu, I have owned it for many years and it still works fine.

That said I have had a dodgy CDX-M600R CD headunit, the tuner packed up. I still have the HU but managed to sell some bits of it on ebay.

I didnt realise sony now made a DAB hu.
