Default vRS MK1 Rear speaker wiring

I have a bit of a stupid question really. Just upgraded the rear speakers just need to get some connectors for the wiring. How do you know which wire is positive and which negative? The colours are different on both sides? Should I bother connecting the rear tweeters up or should I just leave them?
thanks
