| Right. I'm on a mission to upgrade the Symphony unit in my Mk1 vRS. Is the standard VW audio equipment better than the Symphony? It looks very similar give or take a few buttons, but were the internals any better? I don't want to be like the lads on Scarborough seafront on a Saturday night with their amps 'n' subs etc, but I need a better sound. I figured as we in the Skoda fraternity inherit the odd bit of substandard equipment from the VW parts bin, I have assumed that the VW customers get better internals in their stereos. If this is the case, I can buy a VW head unit, pop it in and enjoy a better sound. If not, my 'OEM look' quest will start again. I'm hoping that the boffins amongst you can guide me on this as I am running out of budget solutions to solve my audio misery. Thanks in advance, Andrew.

| Even if they are different internals your going to have a blue illuminated headunit while the rest is green ![]() Im finding this out as being a total pain in the *** at the moment. Ive seen a Pioneer head unit that would be awesome for what i need but it only comes with blue illumination, great |

| Good point, I guess blue would look a bit odd next to green. Mind you, I'm not too bothered about how it looks, more how it sounds. After a journey in my mate's '07 Mk2 Octavia, my Symphony stereo sounds like the worst thing on the planet.
