| A bit of an off beat enquiry, and yes I know this is a Skoda forum but, my parents (in their 80s) have a really weird fault with the OE CD 30/mp3 (I think) radio/CD in their '04 Vauxhall Astra Design. The radio/CD is set by default to come on and off with the ignition but lately, when the car is parked in their garage and not being used, the radio has taken to switching on completely by itself. Mum has taken it to their local Vauxhall dealer who has looked at it, done various diagnostics, scratched their heads and said, sort of, 'beats me' - you need a new radio, £350 please! I'm off to see if I can find anything on a Vauxhall forum, but in the meantime can anyone here offer me any pearls of wisdom. Thanks in advance.

| Righty Ho. Spoke to me grandad earlier, he had the same problem exactly, mentioning that whatever volume it was left at it would come back on at that. He got into a habit of turning the volume right down before turning off when he got home as an interim. But, the problem was fully solved, when Vauxhall put a new stereo in, but he was luckily still in warranty. ![]() So, unfortunately, it looks like they will need a new Stereo.

| Also, he mentioned that when the car was being sorted, his local Vauxhall dealer said that the problem was a known one, and quite common unfortunately.

VxON has thrown up that, as you say, it does appear to be a common fault; certainly I'll use this as ammunition in talking to Mum & Dad's dealer for a cost contribution.
