| In the Octavia, the standard stereo is ok but has some limitations, like the location of the rear tweeters, especially close to the ear for taller drivers. This can get quite painful and the sound breaks up at surpringly moderate volumes. To disconnect the tweeters in the hatchback is very straightforward. Open the boot and under the rear speakers there are 2 wires. Simply unplug those wires that are innermost. In other models access to these wires may not be as straightforward. Therefore, use the following method: The tweeters are located by the rear electric window switch in the rear passenger doors. By using a small flat bladed screwdriver, this panel can be gently unclipped and, once inside, the connection plug can be disconnected. You will now find you can adjust the bias front \ rear more and reach higher volumes with less distortion |

| Further to this, what I have done is disconnect the factory rear tweaters and replaced the rear speakers not with compnoents but with co-axials. The rear speakers now just bulk up the sound and all the sound stage and majority of the treble comes from the expensive front components. Sounds fantastic. |

| To add to this, on the Fabia you can lift the carpet in the boot surrounding the speakers and remove one of the plugs [you will see two plugged in] and this disconnects the rear tweeters.

| I have an Octavia sport (a new one) and the stereo is orientated well over to the right and is quite uncomfortable. It doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference what I do. So, I was going to try and disconnect the rear tweeters to see if that helps. They are by the door handle, so I prised out the window switch (which has the tweeter cover on it), removed the only screw I could see but still couldn't get access to the connections. It is possible to get your finger behind but I am loath to do this in case I damage something. Does anyone know how to make the stereo more evenly balanced and if it is the tweeter trick, how do I get to the back of the tweeter? |

| I've got the mk1 one octavia, I tried to remove the outta connection of the two. It doesn't seem to want to come out, there's a little catch to press in and it should just pull out yea?!! EDIT: Got them out now, can't say the system sounds much better with them unplugged tho. Guess I need to do some tweaking... Last edited by ethos; 17-06-2007 at 13:40. |

| I've done this on my fabia. Found the rear tweeters to be way to close to the front drivers.

| This may seem a daft question but for cars fitted with rear parking sensors if you disconnect the rear tweeters (driver side mainly) wont the warning beeps be lost? Am I doomed to have the dodgy teeter blaring into my right ear for good? Chris |

No, its a totally different speaker. The tweeter has no connection with the parking sensors.

| update, i cant get to the wires of the rear tweeters in the door and the only option seems to be to take the whole door cover off to get to them, surely their must be an easier way to solve this. |

| A small section of gaffer/duck/tank tape (cut to size) placed over the tweeter grill muffles the sound nicely! ![]() Aaves messing around taking thing to bits, and putting them back sometime.
