Fabia VRS-R

Featured Replies

VW and Seat often launch R spec models (Golf R / Leon Cupra R) and with the rumours of VW launching a Polo R looking more definite could or would Skoda do the same with the Fabia VRS?

From reading in AutoExpress and searching on the internet it looks as if the Polo R will be using a 1.6TSI, producing around 220Hp.

It’s probably more likely that Seat would produce a similar R model of the Ibiza but as for Skoda im not sure.

I doubt they will, which is a shame IMHO.

A 220BHP Fabia TSi would be ridiculous.

Hilariously ridiculous.

Haha agreed. Think the vRS is plenty quick enough.....its pretty much as quick as an Octy vrS TSi anyway!

I will make one myself. Already looking at the predicted costs. :giggle:

Haha would be funny. To be fair once Revo get the remap working with the vRS it will be putting out 225hp without any other mods anyway, sure that will satisy anyone who doesnt think the vRS is quick enough already

It'll be a 1.4TSi with 200BHP+. Watch this space...

I'd love it if they did but I can't see it.

I can't imagine Audi will give up the exclusivity of the engine in the forthcoming RS1 for use in other models. They might do a de-tuned version, but I wouldn't expect to see it in the Fabia. Octavia perhaps, but not the Fabia.

they wont do it, they never did with the previous fabia, octavia mk1 or mk2 despite uprated engines being available from VAG.

theres a guy on SCn who works at Wofburg VAG R&D centre. He seems pretty adamant that they are retaining the 1.4TSI for the Polo R etc.

reference 220hp being nuts. wouldnt go that far, it'll be quick, but not nuts. It all depends what yyou are used to driving to i guess. I personally wasn't overly impressed with the fabia performance but i came from a 280Hp car, so that expected. 220Hp is stage 1 1.4TSI remap territory. Why pay a few £k extra for that when a remap £450 will get you around 215-220hp anyway.

Yeah but the uprated "R" version will also remap higher :D

Trust me. 220BHP is FUN with DSG in this car!

:(220bhp is quite easily achievable with remap, I think it was Decembers Fast Car Magazine had two Ibiza Cupra’s with 220-225bhp from the 1.4TSi.

No chance of a 1.6TSi Fabia then :(

What do you rekon the chances of seeing a Ibiza Cupra R?

There is no such thing as a 1.6tsi.

It will just be a mapped 1.4tsi or perhaps a 1.8tsi with a map.

I was just going off what was in Auto Express about the Polo R (1.6TSi)

It was in autoexpress???

What utter made up nonsense on their part!.

They already have a 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 turbo engines...... why would they bother with a 1.6?!

To have a full set? :D

The 1.6 Turbo engine is what the new WRC cars have this year, so why not put it in a road car. I bet it will have more torque, so there would be no point adding a 7 speed DSG to it.

that what I was going to say - the IRC and 2010 WRC cars are all running 1.6 Turbo engine and if "downsizing" is the way to go then why wouldnt they produce a 1.6TFSI?

Would mean all the development has been done by the race cars and if its cheaper to make a single-charged engine why not make it a 1.6 instead of further boosting the 1.4 T?

I just chatted with somebody today and though '**** better get back on the forums and update!'

Taiwan does alot of OEM stuff for manufactrers, mostly computer/ecu, bodywork, brakes and turbo parts.

A friend of mine just mentioned that the 1.4 twin charge is being **** canned and replaced with a 1.6 using a smaller version of the 911 turbo variable geometry turbo to aid low rpm spooling and reduce turbo lag.

And as you just said, its mostly to tie in with the new WRC size and also F1, seems VW is going racing soon and want to sell cars on the back of it.

Sounds good to me!.

Sorry for being an arse earlier, at the time it didnt make sense!.
