as the title says the problem is when pressing the buttons to open or close the windows i now have to hold the buttons in:thumbdwn: to fully open or close the windows where as before you just needed to touch it once and it would do it automatically:thumbup: anyone know whats happened?:confused:

Maybe the switch is broken?

Sounds like you need to reset the one touch function.

Its in your owners manual and on here if you search.

Yes, this happened to me when I had my battery replaced. There's a sequence you need to press/hold the buttons in to reactivate the one-touch operation. The Skoda dealer went through it with me but I really can't remember the sequence. I can't find details in the manual, but I'm sure your local dealer will explain over the phone.

I thought you just put you key in the drivers door lock and held it one way (windows) go down, then the other way windows go up... that's it, one touch windows back working again...

That's how I do it.

Yes, we too have had this very problem a couple of times.

The solution as stated in handbook did not work for us but, if you remove the fuse box cover, RHS of dashboard, remove the appropriate fuse then simply put it back, all auto lowering of the windows is restored ( for our car anyway).

I noticed each time I followed this procedure that the fuse concerned did not appear totally seated so maybe road vibration has caused the problem.

Try the above anyway--it might just work for your car.

Convenience operation of windows

Automatic closing or opening does not operate

If the battery of the car has been disconnected then reconnected, the automatic closing and opening function does not operate. The system must be activated. Proceed as follows in order to re-establish the function:

* turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the closing position and hold it there until all the windows are closed.

* release the key.

* once again insert the key and turn it into the closing position for about 3 seconds.

its all done back to normal again all you have to do is hold the windows buttons in the closed position for at least 3 seconds! i had the battery disconnected at the weekend and never knew it would do this to the windows but no harm its sorted now.

So you can use the key to open and close the windows? Do you just hold either button for a while then?

I knew you could do it by holding the key in the lock, or can't this be done on the vRS??

sorry to hijack topic. My drivers elecy window is broke(motor gone) but my passenger window still works but only from drivers door switch. Altough sometimes it gets down then will not go back up except in little jolts, sometimes winding it down all the way fixes it sometimes it doesn't. so now when it happens I leave it till I get out the car and lock and hold till it shuts any ideas? sorry again for hijacking the thread

Could be a dirty/worn out switch or dirty slides, but could also be the supports for the glass which easily break or come loose. Several threads a year or so ago and in the VW forum. You can see by putting window down and removing door card. Worth checking as if they do fail properly, your stuck with an open window as the glass drops to the bottom.
