Default czech trip

i was wondering whether any of you would be interested in a trip to czech next year,

as i went this year with 15 other skodas and found it very good because you can get any skoda parts for hardly anything out there eg. sideskirts workout at £36, different front bumpers from £50 good or what

the trip will take place either june /july 2005 and will be for 2 weeks or more, and in these two weeks there will be czezh cars shows (like trax but with it mostly being skodas, 5000 infact(tuningparty.cz) and may be some rallying)

if anyone is interested let me know

£50-100 ferry / tunnel.

At least 2 tanks of juice there, and another 2 back (not including to / from the ferry UK side)

Hotel & food. I'd suggest a stay of at least 4 days, it's a long drive and you WILL need recovery time when you get there.

Plus spending money. Food & Beer is cheap, apart from the centre of Prague which isn't.

I reckon £500 should be plenty.

when i went this year it took us over a day to get there but on the way back less than that, petrol = for a vrs octavia you are looking at £300 there and back if you have diesel its less than half that, as for acommadation we will arrange to stay in autokamp skoda, which cost 4 of us for just short of two weeks about £40 for all of us, you can buy beer over there for 9p a bottle so it is cheap,

i went with my brother in his octavia estate and between me and him we spent just short of 2k english money and that was mostly on car parts, just put it this way it was an uncomfortable ride home as ther were bits every where

autocamp skoda is not a hotel chaps it is a basic campsite owned by auto club skoda. it is very basic and at Kosmonosy just outside Mlada Boleslav. It does have chalet acomadation that is very basic i.e a garden shed with a bed and a wardrobe . And speaking with experience is frequently raided by thieves.

Be careful

Just to explain myself further, the campsite is well run and has a good restuarant and sells beer and meals normal czech prices to people camping and walkin's, the standard of the site is better than a lot of cz sites but is not up to those experienced in Europe. The thing people need to recognise with this country - great as it is you have to remember is that there are a lot of people with very little money so foriegn plated cars and tourists are good targets for theives.

One instance was my sons chalet was broken into while he and his mate were asleep his valuables in the chalet were stolen - his car keys were taken from his clothes on his bed and his car contents emptied and all sellable valuables were stolen - passport luckily was not taken. Another was similar was where a tent was entered whilst the owners were asleep all money and valuables stolen.

Its note just on this site I have been on others were theives have entered even during daylight hours.

That said if I wanted a campsite near Mlada I would stay here, its as close as you can get to Mlada Boleslav.

I have stayed at the site camping and in the cabin type acomadation many times - and would do again.

Dont be put off just take precautions.

Lads, lads, lads,

I know cars are fun, but wait you're talking about Czech Republic and Prague - leave the cars at home, save the fuel and mileage and spend it on flights, Corinthia Towers Hotel and Absinthe. Indulge yourself and get flashbacks for at least a year - fan bloody tastic

MMMM Absinthe. I've got some at home, it's like paint stripper especially when used as a potcheen mixer

hello fellow skodaists
as you know i have started this post proposing a suggestion about a trip to czech in 2005, a few of you have responded showing a possible interest so i though that i would elabrate a little mor and share my trip taken earlier this year with emphasis on a similar schedule for next year!

firstly the facts- my 2 week holiday clocked up a round trip of 2990 miles (north wales to dover, calais to czeh ,traveling around czech and back home)

fuel prices-are cheaper in europe espacially czech(49p a litre)

ferry price- based on 3 adults + 1 child (£155 return)

travel time - calais to czech border - 16 hours including adequate breaks/fuel stops on route (allow longer for naps on route)

my brother who did the driving was excited about the two week skoda fun filled hoilday ahead but was a little apprehensive about european driving having never driven abroad before, but if you ask him his opinon now he'll tell you after the initial panic of the wrongside of the road and the first few roundabouts .... its better than here in the uk , roads seem less congested, more organised, very clean and you adapt within a shrt space of time and enjoy the journey through belgium into germany and finally arriving at czech(the home of our beloved skoda)

we stayed inthe town of mlada boleslav (skodas birth town)

we crammed lots into our ten day stay too much to mention, but highlights were a visit to the skoda factory, skoda museum tour, classic skoda car show, loads of car accessories shops(a skoda nuts paradise), prague trip various days of sighseeingand finally the highlight was a weekend tuning show were it cost £18 for all four of us entrance to the show, oh by the way £18 was from friday morning on arrival till sunday, camping included and all entertainment and as we found out their partys go on literally through out the night!
it was brilliant with a great atmosphere, thousands of modified skodas around the likes you'll just not see over here in the uk.

as you have guessed by now,my trip was amazing it was well worth the journey an will be well remered,in summary
the czech country is picturesque,
the czech people+their culture are inspiring
the czech prices are"pleasing to us brits"
the czech skoda is now up their with the best

if anyone is intereted please feel free to email me or contact me via this site
i will be attending the anglesey track dayand will bring along photos and info for anyone wishing to no more or just see the czech macines in their finest
