Default Skoda Factory Road Trip

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THIS POST (1/9/06)

£30 DEPOSIT NOW DUE (2/8/06)

APARTMENT & FACTORY/MUSEUM TOUR NOW BOOKED.! (30/6/06)
ACCOMODATION FOR THIS TRIP NOW FULL - IF YOU WISH TO JOIN US YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENTS (31/7/06)

This has been discussed at length in the Freedom forum and it appears that we have sufficient interest in a trip to the Skoda factory in the Czech Republic.

This is the plan, leave early Thursday ferry to Calais, spend the day driving to Prague to stay overnight in Hotel. Friday drive to Skoda factory (about an hour from Prague) to visit museum and arrange for a factory tour. Spend Saturday sightseeing in and around Prague. Leave early Sunday for return blast back to Blighty!.

This event is being planned over a 'long' weekend starting on Thursday 14th September returning on Sunday 17th September.

Costs are involved are approximately £80 per person for acocomodation dependant on how many we get and the Ferry being around £70. You must also make allowances for food, fuel & tolls.

Please note that you would be responsible for booking and paying for your own ferry.

Add your name to the list if you wish to join us and PM me if you have any questions.

This post will be kept up to date with all the latest information.

P&O Ferries outward journey Thursday 14th September 05:30, return journey Sunday 17th September 21:15. Book Here!

Accomodation Now Booked: We have two apartments, a 1 bedroomed and 2 bedroomed apartment which sleeps a total of 10 people but we can add a further 3 if needed. Spaces in the apartment will be allocated on a strictly first come first serve basis. You are welcome to make your own arrangements if the idea of sharing facilities puts you off, there are plenty of hotels close to the centre.

Confirm your participation in this event by adding your name/s to this list. Please only add to this list if you have confirmed your ferry booking and have an allocated place in the apartment or have alternative accomodation arranged.

Edit 1 (28/6/06): Dates & Time Changed to incorporate a weekday so we can include the factory tour!.

P&O is £70 on times above, but can be lower if you choose 04.30 outward, and 22:40 back. I have posted on a Czech Skoda website with the view of meeting up, perhaps on the Saturday night in and around Prague itself.

Edit: The Milau bridge is WAY down in Southern France. It wouldn't be possible to get down there and back up to CZ in one day.

Guys we recently stayed in apartments, http://www.a-prague.com/apartment-pricna-apartments they were grand. Not sure about parking though. We had a 9 person & 6 person apartment. A mixture of single and double beds for around 199 EUR per night per apartment.

Oh FYI THERES NO FACTORY TRIPS AT WEEKEND, so you'll need to go on the Friday or the Monday , the museum is open alright.

Factory tour first thing Monday then. Still time to get to France for later that night and the fares are "semi flexible" according to the P&O site so doubt there'd be any issues with being a bit late.

I have sent an e-mail to Skoda telling them of our trip, maybe they will be able to do something for us but will have to wait and see.

I'll await further details then, before I commit. Millau would be nice

The trip lasts around 3 hours. I'm not too sure what they would do regarding everyone turning up in their own cars. They requested us have a bus with mic, so we could travel between Museum & Factory, the tour guide came with us and gave a tour on the way. Plus theres like a security point onto the factory which could be fun to get through.

Re the Millau idea (which would be brilliant), it's 580 miles between there and Calais! That would be some road trip, to include Prague and back. For example, for me from Manchester - going Calais, Millau, Prague then back to Calais and upto Manchester is a grand total of 2700 miles

A few months ago, a French chap posted pictures of a small Briskoda meet over there, perhaps someone could PM him and ask if they'd like to go?

I'd love to go but may not have enough holiday left at work will post here when/if I can come - but for now, take that as a no.

gutted, just checked the holiday sheet and someone is booked off
so unless that person is willing to swap with me, or the trip can be week before or week after then Loz can't go

EDIT - she can't swap, she's on holiday, so unless it could poss be another week in sept (not between 14 & 22nd then I cant go. So unfair, stupid Aegon

Go to the Ring young man

Or arrange to swing by there on the way back for a few cheeky laps?
