Default UK to Czech Road Trip 2007

After much discussion and interest shown in the feeler thread it is now time to launch the official UK to Czech Road Trip 2007 thread. Outline details of the trip are shown below but please keep checking back to this page for regular updates.

Edit 10/4/07: Travel arrangements have now been organised:-
We are going on Norfolk Line route from Dover to Dunkerque leaving on 12/9 Wednesday morning on the 2:00am ferry arriving in Dunkerque at 5:00am, the return ferry is 17/9 Monday evening at 8:01pm arriving in Dover at 9:00pm. Journey driving time will take approximately 11-12 hours to our accomodation which is a hotel on the outskirts of Prague but only a 10-15 minute tram ride from the city centre. Ferry should cost between £40-£50 return for two people and a car, I used Ferryto but other websites may give you a better deal.

Please note that you would be responsible for booking and paying for your own ferry!. Accomodation including breakfast has now been booked and is going to cost £135 per person which has to be paid in full by the end of July. I am therefore asking that full payment is sent to me by Sunday 8th July.

ITINERY

Hotel Mars
Thursday am 13th September will be a day of rest and a chance to see some of the sights of Pague + a chance to familiarise yourself with area as Prague is not an easy city to navigate especially without satnav!. Pm is a tour of the Starpormen Brewery for those that wish to go.
Friday 14th September will be a drive to Skoda factory at Mlada Boleslav (about an hour from Prague) to visit the museum and factory tour + spend some cash in the factory shop. This may be followed by a trip to the Airfeild with our friends from the Czech forum SkodaHome.cz :: Svìt vozù Škoda Auto for some airfield antics (you'll love this ).
Saturday 15th September will be a drive to Doksy for the national Skoda Meet where up to 500 Skodas of all ages and types for your viewing pleasure. There are also plenty of stalls to buy spare parts and all sorts at ridiculously low prices.
Sunday 16th September will be up to you but I'm sure there will be another opportunity to visit the airfield for those that want to go again.
Monday 17th September leave early for the return blast back to Dunkerque to catch an early evening ferry back to Blighty!.

We have confirmed reservation spaces for 40 people and secure reserved parking spaces for 20 cars (car parking will cost an extra 8.6 EUR per day day). Any questions either use the Q&A thread running along side this one or PM me.

I cannot emphasise how good this trip was last year and 2007 looks to be even better!.

Please keep this thread for a list of names and general comment, a Q&A thread dedicated to this trip can be found here.

UPDATES!
26/3/07 - 40 spaces reserved for the Skoda Museum & Factory Tour on Friday 14th September at 10:30am.
3/4/07 - Due to such high demand we have reached the allocated spaces available to us so the list is now closed to new entrants. Please still PM if you are interested in this trip as there may be a chance of a few more added places.
4/4/07 - Post No.2 has the names of those as confirmed entrants on this trip.
10/4/07 - Accomodation & Ferry information added.
16/4/07 - List reopened due to a cancellation, please contact me first.
27/4/07 - There will be some T-Shirts made up for our trip and you have a choice of S,M,L,XL (no other sizes available I'm affraid) so please PM me your size or add it in when you send your payment to me. If I don't hear from you you will get whatever is left over.
27/4/07 - There is going to be a tour round the Staropramen Brewery on the Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm. Could you let me know either way as to whether or not you wish to join in this excursion.
7/5/07 - List for new entrants now closed as we have reached our maximum allocation of spaces.
17/5/07 - A cancellation means that there is another space available. Please PM me for further information.
13/6/07 - List now closed to new applicants. There MAY be a possibility to add one or two more but please PM me first if interested.
17/07/07 - Good News, your hotel rooms have now been paid for in full (by Bank transfer so may take a couple of days to clear) - Bad News, I have been waiting on one final payment from Sooty and have failed to gain contact with him despite several PM's and e-mails!, this means that the extra I had built in for the cost for T-Shirts has now gone!!!!!

Theres no reason not to let you all into where we are staying, not exactly 5 star luxury but functional and with the all important secure parking nearby AND it was available to 40 of us at the times we wanted! Be grateful people as I've got no idea what this place is like although from this quote taken from 2004 it sounds like a dump
Quote:
shabby and rundown. Very poor part of town, 5k outside Prague. Restaurant was dirty and staff surly and aggressive. Food was awful. We travelled with Travelsphere and paid a lot of money for 3 nights at Hotel Mars.
Ah well, at least we'll have each other!

By the way, it is highly recomended that you have a co-driver on this trip. It would be too much for one person to do on their own imho.
