Hi, Only 18 days until I become a Skoda owner for the first time, letting go of a trusty Leon Cupra 20VT at the same time. The Leon has been a good car, mechanically reliable and a great engine. I am hoping for more robust electrics from the "other" VAG value brand though... The new car is the new Octavia vRS 2.0TFSI hatch in race blue with current upgrade of 18" alloys, jumbo box, dual zone climate control and rear electric windows. I've added the rear parking sensors (for the wife, honest) for a grand total of a nadge over £16k. I'll post the link later if the rules allow (you will know the site, they are only doing estate versions now). I have joined Briskoda hoping that I will be able to benefit from your experiences with aftermarket Skoda retailers and tuners, as I intend to at least tweak the ECU and lower the car a touch after a couple of thousand are put on the clock. The brother in law has started with the skip jokes (he drives a Honda CRV soft roader!), but I like the Q car status that the Leon has given me over the last 2 years and I am just hoping the vRS will be more of the same with a step up in quality.

Hiya. Response to Skoda jokes from the outlaw would seem to be Sloane Ranger, Chelsea Tractor, Suburban Useless Vehicle, "off-road means 2 wheels up a kerb does it?" type comments.

AAAAARRRGGG! Only 4 days to go and my Leon trade-in has decided to throw a wobbly, check engine light along with four VAG-COM codes that do not point to anything in particular. My local garage is playing "swap the expensive part" to try and find the source of the codes Wish me luck!

WHOOHOO! Picked it up on Wednesday as planned, and the Leon made it down there in one piece (£80 for an air flow sensor fitted)! I am so impressed with the quality and more importantly the standard torque, is it just me or does the TFSI appear to be almost diesel-like in its torque delivery (although I am nursing it at the moment, yet to explore the full rev range)? I can see why members are opting for the Koni FSD shocks, a bit choppy at low speed, but that's easily sorted - speed up! Off to find out if Koni shocks and Eibach springs are a good match...

Nice one. Can't imagine Skoda electrics are any better or worse than Seat? As for Skoda jokes..... I didn't think there were any people out there stuck in the 1980's![]()
