Default Correct load and speed rating for Octavia vRS

Hi, I'm pleased to be able to join this forum as I'm now the proud owner of a 56 plate Octavia vRS in race blue. Had it 2 weeks now and I love it.
I have searched the forums for an answer to my question, but just not had any luck, so apologies if anyone has already mentioned it.
My problem is that I'm trying to find what tyre load and speed rating where fitted from the factory on the 18" rims ? When I took delivery it had 92 Y xl on the rear and 88 W on the front. I queried this and to be honest I didn't really get a definitive answer. In the end, they put 92 Y xl on the front for me. But like I say, i'm just wondering what was fitted from new, so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it
Many thanks

Hello & welcome,

I thought they wouldn't have been able to sell it with different speed ratings on the tyres?

I would have thought they should have checked it?

All tyres carry a speed symbol in the form of a letter indicating the maximum speed for which the tyre is intended.

It should be noted that these ratings are important in that it is a breach of Construction and Use regulations to run on tyres that are below the specified Load Index, it may also be dangerous.

I have heard that it can invalidate your insurance to run less thean the specified tyres?

Ben

"Extra Load" - that is written on tyre.

Thanks guys!

I thought it was odd that they had 88W on the front and 92Y XL on the rear which is why I questioned them on it. I only wanted to know as and when it comes round to change them which tyre I need to get. Thanks for all your replies, and yes I am a huge fan of the Incredible PWEI !!

just a quick update really, I popped down to another dealer today to ask the question and the answer I got was still not 100%. they said that the tyre didnt have to be Extra Load though. the car in the showroom had 17inch rims with 91W. so, 91W or 92Y, not sure it makes much difference. I did notice 2 other vRS on the forecourt with 92Y XL on, so methinks i'll just stick to those when the time comes. !
